KRON, Ohio - The man accused of shooting Akron police officer Justin Winebrenner pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.

Kenan Ivery, 35, had a special hearing Monday , where no bond was set. He was arraigned Tuesday morning on murder charges. The courtroom was filled with officers, including Akron Police Chief James Nice.

Police said Ivery shot Officer Justin Winebrenner at Papa Don's Pub in Akron after he was asked by the staff to leave the bar for being unruly. Officers said Ivery went to his car and returned armed with a gun.

Investigators said Ivery shot five people, including Winebrenner, who died at Summa Akron City Hospital.

Akron Police Chief James Nice said Winebrenner and other people in the bar were heroes and may have saved lives by confronting the gunman.

He was released from the hospital on Monday afternoon.

NewsChannel5 Investigators found Ivery was convicted on a weapons with disabilities and a drug charge in 2011.

Under Ohio law, Ivery could have been sentenced to up to three years in prison.

He was sentenced two years in prison, but served only one.

Moderators, if this has been posted somewhere else on FR already, feel free to pull it. But I searched and could not find it. In fact, I had not heard about this story until today.

For those who may not read the source or may not be able to tell from the "politically correct" headline...
A BLACK convicted felon SHOT several WHITE people in a bar, including two WHITE police officers, killing one WHITE police officer. But yet I don't see this all over the news. And I haven't heard of any related marches, protests, riots or lootings. Spread the word.

“But yet I don’t see this all over the news.”

And you won’t.

I think I saw the original story here at FR but no where else.

Think of a Michael Browne who got Officer Wilson’s gun, and what he did with it. BINGO!

Total censorship of this story in the mainstream press. I looked and looked, but couldn’t find anything about it here on FR, or on Drudge or Breitbart. Fox News’ website ran a link to the story briefly at the bottom of their “Crime” section.

I wonder if describing the brute as “unruly” qualifies as a racist remark.

Give him an all black jury, and he might get off on the grounds of social justice.

Nothing in the article about a “white police officer” or “allegedly armed black man?” Shocking.
