BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Immigration activists gathered Friday in front of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's office to send a strong message.
"Open your doors to us, we are your constituents, we need some kind of relief for the rest of them [immigrants] and that's up to Congress," Activist Rob England said.
They want Congress to pass a bill on comprehensive immigration reform and they are supportive of President Barack Obama's executive order, saying he did not overstep his bounds.
Republican representatives felt differently.
Texas Junior Senator Ted Cruz said the executive order gave "unconstitutional amnesty" and was in defiance of Congress and the American people. But England said what Obama did is nothing new. "We've had presidents who have given executive orders on immigration," he said.
Activist and Union Worker Paola Fernandez said her parents can go to work after this order is signed and she does not have to worry about whether they will come back home or if they've been deported.
"I went and talked to my mom who was still sleeping so you know I just gave her a big hug," Fernandez said.
Fernandez said her family is now planning to travel across the United States, as they were unable to before for fear of being caught.
Obama said this executive order would allow illegal immigrants a temporary stay in the country if they have been in the United States for five years, have passed a background check and are willing to pay taxes.
Of course Obama will wave the background check and taxes.

Willing. Yeah, right. These illegals will start paying taxes that the gringos pay in the first place.

Incredible! Its like people breaking through you back door and now want bed and breakfast.
So I just called my congresswoman’s office (Ann Kirkpatrick) in Flagstaff and the voicemail message was in English and then in Spanish. Who the hell are her constituents anyway? Illegal uneducated peasants or American born citizens? And where has my country gone?
Every one of these illegal alien invaders should be arrested, loaded on a bus and sent home where they belong. They are not Americans and never will be. Americans need to bring charges against the bass turds for harassing our elected representatives.
He’s already on their side. Kevin will be the strong-arm establishment guy twisting arms when the time comes for the GOP to cave.
Why? the pResident will not enforce it.

Fine the republicans should pass a bill,close the border until the 11 million Mexicans are assimilated into the American culture,no more will be allowed in for 10 years.
After all Obama has been very generous,now the border is closed
