The focus of the 2014 Group of 20 summit meeting in Brisbane, Australia, was on stimulating economic growth across the industrialized world. Thanks, though, to President Obama’s grandstanding and attempted sabotage of the agenda as laid out by the host country, climate change also came to prominence.
For several months prior to the G-20, and despite strong Australian resistance, radical environmental groups had been lobbying for inclusion of global-warming issues on the meeting’s agenda. Mr. Obama was happy to oblige them.
His endorsement of the U.S.-China Joint Announcement on Climate Change just before the G-20 was a signal that he would also use the Australian meeting to highlight his campaign to stop “global warming.”
That global warming stopped 18 years ago and the warming of a few tenths of a degree between 1979 and 1997 shows no sign of being other than of natural origin is apparently unknown to the president. Taking action on climate change is to be a cornerstone of his presidential legacy. Bankrupting the domestic coal-mining companies is just an added bonus in Mr. Obama’s eyes.
About a week prior to the G-20 came the sudden announcement that the University of Queensland was to be included in the conference’s security zone, because Mr. Obama was to give a major speech there. Clearly, something was brewing.
The brew turned out to be the president’s stirring of the global-warming caldron through his heavy emphasis on climate change in his campus speech. This posed a deliberate and significant embarrassment for the host nation’s prime minister, Tony Abbott, who still wished to keep that topic out of the G-20 discussions.

I use the “we are freezing to death because global warming has already been fixed” play when talking with my lib friends. They freak out.
The Australian newspaper had an article that was linked yesterday but to read beyond the excerpt required a subscription. The article you posted better explains the insult Obama gave to our friend and ally in the Southern Hemisphere.
I believe that instead of warming we are entering a period of severe cooling and man has nothing to do with it. Here is a link to that story:

UNITED States President Barack Obama told hundreds of Queenslanders he would do everything he could to protect the Great Barrier Reef from the threat of climate change.
"Because I have not had time to go to the Great Barrier Reef and I want to come back, and I want my daughters to be able to come back and be able to bring their daughters or sons," he said.
His comments come after the International Union for Conservation of Nature this week labelled climate change a "very high threat" to the reef.
Mr Obama, speaking at the University of Queensland on Saturday ahead of the G20 Leaders' Summit, said if nations like China and the US could make climate change commitments, referring to an historic agreement during the week, then the whole world could...
The students probably enjoyed the lecture from this UN mouthpiece - the rest of Brisbane avoided the city and went to the beach or fishing in their tinnies.
Obama is more of a mouthpiece for radical ideologies like Marxism and Islam. I suspect he sees the U.N. as a convenient vehicle for his propaganda, just like your university. At least you don’t have him 24 by 7 like we do Up Over.

Brisbane 'protests' are fairly laid-back...this one had to do with corporate tax evasion, a subject under discussion at the G20.

Take a look at that pic, and remember that it is LATE NOVEMBER...and, yet, those people in Australia look HOT! Some of them don't even have shirts on. Obviously, there us a warming trend.

Summer came early down under, just as winter came early in the northern hemisphere...while we swelter, you’re enjoying snow and frozen lakes. It’s looking like a little ice-age in the US and another drought for us. Maybe if the ice-cover increases in the north, the added ‘weight’ will tip the north-south axis over, and that will account for the numerous, previous magnetic reversals...lol...now why didn’t the UN think of that?
They could have hired the Goracle to extort money from us to stop the world from tipping over; instead of that ridiculous CO2 palaver that no one believes any more...wouldn’t THAT have been far more scary?
