One of my very liberal doctor clients has a second home in the northern part of New Mexico. If she had her way there would not be any development of anything anywhere in New Mexico, including paving of roads. Unfortunately everyone who owns property near her is of the same opinion. Stupid!!!
“and the fracking boom in Lea County was well underway.”
Right now I think Lea County is where most of the action is.
The only thing that keeps us from being a great 3rd World Banana Republic is that it is too cold and dry to grow bananas here.
If a jurisdiction refuses to allow exploitation of its resources, the next level of gov’t should reduce its transfer of tax dollars to that area commensurate with the amount of money the development of the resource would have brought in.
Watch how fast the tune changes.
Being one of the poorest counties in NM, one would think they would welcome new jobs and growth opportunities. guess the libs have invaded that area too.
