Former Gov. Edwin Edwards only got 30% of the vote. This one's in the bag for the GOP.

So he was the one who made that quote years ago, and I thought it was one of the Rockerfellers or Kennedys.
That’s ancient political history.
Graves can win this by being gracious to the old man, and saying his (Graves) experience is more recent. And Oh, he has never spent years locked away in jail, not that there’s anything wrong with serving your time, once convicted./

Was this the guy who’s motto was “vote for the crook”?

I read it as Graves got 30% and Edwards 27%. Lets hope this district is not in NO; lots of dead voters there...

The 6th district doesn’t contain New Orleans, but does include Baton Rouge, which is heavily Dem. I find it incomprehensible that I see so many Edwards signs, even in VERY conservative Livingston Parish where I live. Way back when, people got suckered in by his fake “charm”, much like that of BJ Clinton, even while he screwed them and our state for SO many years. The fake charm and old “I’d rather re-elect a crook I know than take a chance on one I don’t” mentality is what kept that idiot around so long. Sadly, those sentiments still exist in far too many voters.

However, I’m cautiously optimistic, given the overwhelming majority of votes against the felon in the primary. I do think this is the year when we finally dump Landrieu, and simultaneously toss Edwards out with the trash too!

The Dems are stinging from last week’s losses - if they feel they have a chance, they might pull out all the stops to steal this seat. The lib media would have some happy news to concentrate on, the Dems actually WON the midterms!

Edwards is nearly 90 years old. The word “antique” comes to mind.

I do not think the Dems will kick in very much money or sweat for Mary L or Edwin E.

Ain't happening. The dirty secret is the Paid Media in Louisiana had Edwards getting 40% plus in the primary. He came nowhere close.

They also had Mary Landrieu coming in with at least the mid 40s and Cassidy in the mid 30s. That's what they hoped, anyway. The media "experts" here in Louisiana were shocked at the outcome.

To Mary Landrieu, Edwin Edwards And Jamie Mayo: Don’t Waste Our Time
by Scott McKay November 05

http://thehayride.com/2014/11/to-mary-landrieu-edwin-edwards-and-jamie-mayo-dont-waste-our-time/

It may seem a victory of sorts for the Louisiana Democrat Party that in the three major races extant in this year’s election cycle they still have three candidates alive in a runoff this morning.

But the Democrats, and their candidates, shouldn’t take much joy in that fact. Mary Landrieu, Edwin Edwards and Jamie Mayo should all concede their races today and move on with their lives.

It’s the intelligent, and merciful, thing to do. Admit defeat and bow out gracefully.

If we win this, it will be a +15 net gain in the house in this election.

We will also win the LA 05 race between Ralph Abraham and Jamie Mayo.

Since the GOP already holds this seat, it’s not a gain.

The “quote” has been around for a long time, I can’t remember who or what campaign but it was in louisiana, probably Huey Long, edwards just “accomodated” it, nothing new or unexpected from a democrat.

In the unlikely chance the Edwards won, he would become the oldest member of congress. The two oldest, Ralph Hall of Texas lost reelection and John Dingell of Michigan is retiring.

Since Edwards is nearly 90, I guess Graves might have a chance at it ;- )
