Referring to immigration, Boehner also said that "it is time for the Congress of the United States to deal with a very difficult issue in our society." He noted that immigration has become a "political football" over the last ten years and said it is his personal belief that "it's just time to deal with this."

Yes, it is time to deal with this. Close/secure the borders and then take the time necessary to deal with the illegal immigrants already here, in a way that is fair to those who waited in line and followed the rules.

Congress has ZERO credibility in passing amnesty with the PROMISE of closing the border. Somehow that part does not happen. If a law is passed, it is somehow defunded. CLOSE the borders and take the time necessary AFTER the borders are secure to deal with those here.

Return convicted criminals to their country of origin, especially the rapists and murderers. Getting them out of our jails will reduce our costs by 50% or more.

How about illegal and legal immigrants must register as “guest workers” or be deported. The guest worker program would include:
1. Flat tax on income applied to all the guest workers and tied to the real cost of illegal immigrants/guest workers on our government, infrastructure, legal system, law enforcement, and health care system.
2. No voting rights.
3. crippling fines to any business that employs illegal immigrants
4. Federal ID for guest workers.
5. a rational path to citizenship for guest workers (after so many years being a guest worker, English language comprehension, citizen tests, annual quotas, etc.).
6. Guest workers must agree to abide by our laws and will submit to our justice system.

Flame on (this is just an attempt to start a discussion)

The war on Americans not in the Ruling Class has resumed. That didn’t take long.

Time for the GOP led House to get rid of this clown and vote for a new speaker.

Well, he happens to be right. The law wasn’t working before Obama, and with 6 years of Obama’s “executive actions” and non-enforcement, it really, truly is not working now. The GOP finally has a chance to do something about it, and while I think Obama is going to go ahead and do his own thing, the GOP should at least offer a model of a policy.

We need to have an immigration policy that helps America, not every Third World Muslim hell-hole that the President adores.

I trust Boehner about as much as I trust Schumer.

Yeah, like build a fence and close the DANG BORDER! Then you address any other issues. Until we have security we cannot do anything!
It’s not hard to figure out.

Just as a reminder: John Boehner does not adhere to the Hastert Rule unless he gets huge pressure to do so.

What is the Hastert Rule?

When Dennis Hastert was Speaker, he made a rule to never bring a vote to the House Floor unless it was backed by a majority of Republicans.

Boehner has the power to bring a vote to the House Floor with just 18 ‘squish’ Republicans and let all Democrats vote for it. Then it will pass without a majority of Republicans. Boehner did this on the Republican attempt to defund Obamacare while funding everything else.

The key is to get a Speaker that will follow the Hastert Rule. When Boehner was selected as Speaker he agreed to follow it but later he broke his agreement.

Boehner is not to be trusted.

The only way Speaker Boehner could restore any credibility with me is if he resigned and rode himself out of town on a rail.

He has to do something? Like pass new laws? Why, they are on the books now. Just enforce them, passing new laws is not the only part of their job, they are supposed to lead. I can’t understand why they have to make new laws when they don’t enforce the ones they passed before. Either get rid of them or enforce them, don’t hide behind the mantra “We have to do something.” Quislings for sure, and verging on treason. Speaking of, that is not just a word.

Yikes.....wasn't he the preacher in Poltergeist II?

Seriously, close the damn border and DON'T reward lawbreakers by granting them our precious citizenship! Start rounding them up and the rest will self-deport!

Why is now the time?

They’ve sold out the average American worker enough by enacting trade policies that allowed so many jobs to go out of the country. They allow all of the H1B workers to take the good jobs people were supposed to train for after losing their manufacturing jobs. I suppose they’re looking to finish us off by importing millions of other workers and welfare recipients while our labor participation rate is about as low as it has ever been.

It’s traitorous, and we should use them as lamp post and tree decorations if they do it!

We might as well just join the ‘FSA’, get on disability, and get as much of our dammed tax money back as we can! To hell with doing the right thing. Why even try anymore?? ....

it is time for a Republican-led Congress to move an immigration bill forward,

I agree,

Seal the border.

Mandate E-Verify.

We've got millions to remove.......let's get started.
