US military hopefully plays every game in the book to minimize this unparalleled security breach, but the CinC has a lot of power.

He is quite well educated enough in the tenets of Islam(Moslem school in Indonesia) that that could not have been done whimsically or without knowing the meaning of the act. He is Mohammedan. I've been saying the same thing. The US has been on the wrong side of most of these regional wars since Bosnia in the mid-1990s.
To further that goal Gen. Patreaus coordinated shipments of arms from collapsed Libya and from Saudi Arabia and Qatar through Adan, Turkey to Syrian rebels. Those arms end in the hands of ISIS.
When this becomes public the shipments stop. This is the cue for McCain to say that the U.S. needs to support the rebels, that they are struggling without our assistance, etc. Shipments resume.
This cycle of the "hawk" McCain and the supposed "reluctant" Obama has occurred several times. It is theater. Toppling the Syrian government is the current chapter in the State Department/CIA operation "Arab Spring" which toppled the Egyptian and Libyan governments.
And how has that worked out, especially in Libya? It took a counter-revolution/coup led by the Egyptian military to oust the Muslim Brotherhood from Egypt. There was no independent military force to do the same thing in Libya after Gaddafi was killed.
