The memo, obtained by TheDC, briefed the Democratic senator about a coordinated IRS-Treasury Department plot to target political activity by nonprofit 501(c)(4) groups. The plot was operating out of Lois Lerners Tax Exempt Government Entities Division. (RELATED: Liens Filed Against Dem Senator Jeanne Shaheen And Her Husband For Failure To Pay Creditors)
These regulations have been in place since 1959, Wilkins wrote. We will consider proposed changes in this area as we work with Tax-Exempt and Government Entities and the Treasury Departments Office of Tax Policy to identify tax issues that should be addressed in designing new regulations and guidance.
I hope this information is helpful, Wilkins wrote. I am sending a similar response to your colleagues. If you have questions, please contact me or have your staff contact Cathy Barre at (202) 622-3720.
Shaheen got the inside info from the IRS, making it clear she was the point person in a group composed of six close Democratic colleagues including Chuck Schumer and Al Franken, who joined with Shaheen in quietly writing a letter to then-IRS commissioner Doug Shulman expressing their concern about new nonprofit groups engaging in political activity in 2012.
The Democratic senators publicly available March 9, 2012 letter asked the IRS to immediately change the administrative framework for enforcement of the tax code as it applies to groups designated as social welfare organizations by introducing a new bright line test for how much a tax-exempt group can invest in political activity and by setting a new rule that at least 51 percent of a groups activity must non-political. The senators called for more elaborate disclosures about finances and undertakings in groups form 990 submissions and sought new rules about how much donors could write off as business expenses. A Freedom of Information Act request from a major conservative super PAC specifically identified Jeanne Shaheen as its Freedom of Information Act search term on the IRS scandal (and in Washington, folks, if YOUR NAME is the search term that the conservative super PAC uses in its bid to get public information, then you just might be involved in something).
Maybe that was the “October surprise” that Bob Beckel of Fox was talking about? /sarcasm off
Prison stripes for all. . . . . . .
I might be missing something here and will stand corrected if someone wants to line me out.
OK, she is running against the same Brown that essentially helped to pass Obamacare. He got booted now is running again to out her.
She gets tied up in this IRS, time to go, right? Brown defeats her and she is basically untouchable. Hell, like the Republicans are going to touch anybody anyway, lol...
Now we got the same truck driving liberal Brown who votes with the Dimorats most of the time anyway.
So just how is this a win?
Texas, time to secede. Most of the nation is changing chairs on a sinking ship....and do not want to FIGHT to keep it afloat.
This WILL help Brown!
I knew of this months ago ... I thought most people here knew that there was this gang of dems who petitioned the IRS to investigate conservative groups, and Shitheen was part of it.
Firing squads would be too good for these people.
This is a racist investigation... Oh, wait,mI thought IRS taxation without representation was...
Bttt.

And the IRS is guilty of contempt of court for not releasing this info earlier, in order to protect politicians.
If Shaheen wins today, she needs to be recalled ASAP!
We need voter rolls in N.H. to contact all Dems and Indi’s who haven’t voted yet.
Now we know for certain what’s in Lois’ *missing emails* :(
A Rat is a Rat is a Rat.
“Live free or die”, forget it, after all this is Red Hampshire, where the truth never seems to come around.
I look forward to President Cruz's IRS Commissioner, Sarah Palin, returning the favor.
Borat Obola and Lowest Learner have proven that you can't destroy Conservatism by using the IRS as a weapon.
We will find out in a couple of years whether or not using the IRS against Liberalism will prove fruitful.
Published too late for effective use by the Brown campaign.
When you have the MSM against you, you will not get any publicity on something like this, especially at the last minute.
And many TV local news folks won’t cover it as it is a late surprise and they will say they have no way of checking it out and it is prejudicial.
Here’s a reason why early voting isn’t a great idea. You can’t take it back. (Not a problem for me, though. My political philosophy would not be affected by a last-minute scandal.)
