First case of voter fraud confirmed in Rio Arriba Co.

The first case of voter fraud in New Mexico this election has been confirmed by the Rio Arriba County Clerk's Office.

According to the Rio Arriba County Clerk's office, a voter trying to cast an early ballot in Espanola Saturday was told he had already voted three days prior.

The man told poll workers he hadn't voted. He was then shown the signature of the voter, but he says it wasn't his signature.

Officials say they were able to confirm that the signature on the original ballot did not match the legal voter's signature on file.

Poll workers allowed the man to vote on a provisional ballot, but election officials will have to determine whether the provisional ballot can be counted. Elections officials have no legal means of actually verifying signatures or confirming identification of a voter.

So, to avoid disenfranchisement, is it safe to assume the provisional ballot will count... and the other votes will count as well. The other votes would be already in the bucket, and not separable.

That area of Northern NM has been infamous for voter fraud for years (despite having a relatively rural population).

Well there is the rub isn't it? The secret ballot is one of our corner stones but liberals have even ruined that. This persons vote is either canceled out added to. We cannot allow this nonsense anymore. We need to require a finger print on the ballot and the register so that fraudulent ballots can be found and eliminated when a challenge is raised. Plus it can be used to determine citizenship status. No more illegal aliens voting in our elections. This could even stop the dead from voting. Yes I know the idea is fraught with danger but vote fraud must be eliminated.

I grew up in Rio Arriba County. The politics were/are as crooked as anywhere in the country.

If the guy is who he says he is and he’s a legal voter, throw out the first ballot and count his.

It’s perfectly legitimate to use any reasonable means to identify the voter—driver’s license with photo being the most obvious. Then, once ID’d as legitimate and registered and only voting once, the voter gets to cast a secret ballot.

This being reported can only help the current Secretary of State (first republican in that office since 1928 I think) who has been campaigning on supporting voter id.

Like I have said before:
Erase all voter registration databases.
Require everyone to re-register with a state-registered ID.
Have registration cross-checked against all other databases.
Require state-registered ID at polling places when voting.
Make the laws include severe penalties for those that are convicted of voter fraud.

I’ll go one further...
Purge the voters rolls every ten years and
make everyone re-register.
Make election day the only day your can vote,
no more early voting, same day registration, mail in ballots, and
only the elderly and service personal get absentee ballots.
Penalty for voters fraud, five years for each vote, ten years for tampering or engineering voters fraud. No parole.

Better than nothing but once illegals get driver’s license they will go right on and vote. The dims count on it. A dim and a pubbie have already proposed a federal ID card. This to circumvent any real reform. Wish it were not so but it is and we cannot ignore it any more. This is really an insidious problem. BTW I believe illegal aliens allowed the dims to take over Ca. And they are taking over other states as well.

In Raleigh NC the paper ballot has a code on top that is matched to the voters info would be fairly easy to get the ballot coded to the voter and destroy the fraudulent one. They have to have some means of identifying ballots. They darn sure can tell if you vote with one party or the other.
Shows why dimwits like early voting-get there before the real registered voter.

Yes, for the primary. But, not for the general election.
