This is a fantastic 5-minute video of a black man at a Republican campaign office talking about his journey from being a Democrat to becoming a conservative. Having gone on the same journey seven years ago, Im ever-intrigued by what causes this shift. And more importantly, how to nurture it in others.
In this case, the gentleman in the video was a Democrat because (1) he is black and therefore liberal party alliance is automatic, and (2) he had a long-held belief that the Democratic Party was the party for everyday people.

A republican UAW member is running against auto heiress Debbie Dingell in Michigan. He's a longshot to disrupt the Dingell Dynasty but I think he's the first of many who will try to knock the Dingells off the throne.

he had a long-held belief that the Democratic Party was the party for everyday people. I believe that was a reasonable assumption many years ago.
As Ronald Reagan said, I didn't leave my party; they left me.
The democrat party has been taken over by the socialists and communists. It is now an anti- American party.- Tom

I am convinced that the recent political ad by Elbert Guillory, a Louisiana State Senator, (R-LA) was the beginning of the Black vote waking up to reality. Though directed toward Senator Landrieu, this was a powerful indictment of the democrat party as the party of modern day slavery.
