To be clear, there is a difference between a “cover story” and an outright lie.
In a “cover story” all elements are nominally true, they are just not complete.
I would suggest the shooter is the designated team bean spiller. The team wants the story recounted.
He will not be visually identifiable. Perhaps his voice will be altered. He will not be subject to being founf by the bad guys.
Keep in mind that the president is a disreputable tyrant that deserves no respect.

We DID obtain critical intelligence from waterboarding.
Does this mean my husband is now free to tell me all about the classified missions he went on way back when? Most of it was probably routine, and not very exciting to hear, but some of it might interest a TV audience. Oh what the hell, let’s just void all those oaths of secrecy.

I’m with you. Fox is supposedly Obama’s mortal media enemy; he rails on them whenever he can. Yet, the network he despises has been on lockdown regarding Obama’s phony/shady biography and now they plan to thwart the weak objections of the Pentagon to highlight something which just so happens to be Obama’s sole “achievement?” Looks like a don’t throw me in that briar patch situation to me.
I don’t know the truth of what did or did not happen in Abbottabod, but .gov certainly can’t be trusted and I’m not so sure about Fox.

The Pentagon is trying to protect the CinC. I understand that.
I would love to hear this guy say it was supposed to be a snatch and grab that went bad.
Personally, I think Bin Laden died years ago, but that seems to be a “nut job” conspiracy.
Sometimes going public could be self-preservation, who knows? I just remember GWB saying he wanted BinLadens head in a box. I think he received that gift shortly after Tora Bora.
