Young Republicans of Galveston County, Texas are apologizing for an event they held over the weekend. They admit that throwing darts at pictures of Democrats went too far.
Politics have become divisive, ugly, and many would agree downright nasty over recent years. But some say what happened in League City at a polling place this weekend crossed a line.
League City voter Edward Cantu was at the North Galveston County Annex Building Saturday when he noticed a dart throwing contest in the parking lot. The Young Republicans of Galveston County were letting people throw darts at pictures of President Obama, State Senator Wendy Davis, and Judge Susan Criss, all Democrats.
If you hit the target you received a free hot dog. They even invited people to attend on their Facebook page.
"I thought of just one word. Classless," Canty said. "You don't do that to people. It sounded like they're still juvenile like they're in junior high or elementary. That's not the act of mature people."
A member of the Criss campaign used cell phone video and sent someone over to take part as proof of the contest.
But the Young Republicans readily admitted to and apologized for organizing the contest. In a statement, the group's president says "we understand that people have been upset by our event this past weekend. We certainly intended no malice and do apologize to anyone who took offense, including Susan Criss. We do hope that she can accept our apology."
"When you have to resort to that kind of classless act I think that doesn't bode well or say well of who or what you represent," Cantu said.

They should have had a fundraiser selling Obola toilet paper, or had a dart throwing contest with a roll as a prize. NO APOLOGY!!
