St. Louis Open Carry/Firearm Education Walk

"Own a gun in Missouri? Legally? With a concealed carry license? Well, congratulations are in order, because you can open carry that gun all you want, seemingly anywhere, and nobody -- not St. Louis mayor Francis Slay, state legislators or the cops -- will stop you.

That's the takeaway from Saturday's open carry demonstration through Citygarden and the Gateway Arch, which attracted around 50 local and out-of-state activists to the heart of downtown St. Louis. Participants wore holstered pistols or carried long rifles slung over the shoulder, drawing both stares from passing tourists and the ire of the city's mayor."

btw, there were actually 72 people at the walk, despite the media's low "estimates".

Be prepared for the cops to pay “special attention” to you if you open carry.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

Wow. Comments section in the Riverfront Times is a lot rougher than anything here in Washington state. A lot of vulgarity, a lot of racism going both ways. Paper doesn’t seem to police the comments in any way.

The walk is OVER.

That would have been clear if you had actually *read* the article.

There is a learning curve for the police, but after a bit, they reach the conclusion that the more gun carriers, the better for them, the police. Gun carriers prevent a huge amount of crime without firing or even brandishing. After a time, in common carry states, even criminals learn that they had better not use a gun, and if a citizen draws down on them they had better surrender quickly.

The final result is like in Arizona, where if some tourist breathlessly tells a cop that someone else has a gun, the cop will look at him like he was excited because some other person was wearing shoes. And...?

Conversely, only a mentally ill maniac or a desperate criminal would dare to draw down on an Arizona cop, because they would die. Any more, only criminals passing through the state are stupid enough to use a gun in a robbery.

Bringing a rifle to a Ferguson “demonstration” might be just the thing to define a mob, with a subsequent police reaction, thereby giving the diversity industry all the fodder they would need. In a related story here on FR, some people have asked that the grand jury delay revealing its report until after 5PM so they can get their children off the streets.

Be prepared for the cops to pay “special attention” to you if you open carry.

"Being prepared" should mean either open carrying with a large group of people or else open carrying in a place where you can have someone else lay down suppressive fire just in case you come across some of those 'Obama cops' who think that Obama can ignore the Constitution and so can they.
