The Spanish missionaries died of Ebola (as have, I think, 9 Doctors Without Frontiers workers) but I wonder if perhaps West Africans are more badly affected.

It’s not (quite) as nuts as it sounds: Africans have several adaptations to give them relative immunity to Malaria. For example, >90% of West Africans are Duffy Antigen negative - FY(a-b-). This makes them largely Malaria resistant.

The downside of being Duffy negative is that West Africans are more susceptible to some inflammatory ailments, also to prostate cancer and HIV.

Only 3% of Caucasians and <1% of Asians are FY(a-b-). I believe the figure is around 68% for African-Americans. (This is why US blood banks are always in need of black donors - Duffy negative recipients can have a mild reaction to the antigen in Duffy positive blood.)

Anyhow, I’m not a biologist and this is just ignorant speculation on my part. I’d like to think that the CDC is exploring every angle, but on current showing, I’m afraid political correctness might get in the way of serious investigation.

I am very happy Pham has recovered.

But I will not sing her praises here on FR.

Her willingness to be used as a tool by Obola for the photo op is very disappointing.

I’ll be damned if I would ever willingly take a picture with that Muslim scum.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Not really sure that I’m buying any of this.

I now suspect that we are dealing with false first results on her tests.

Looks like a scam to me.

If she really had Ebola, there is no way she would have been allowed within miles of Obingo!

This has a smell to it that is getting worse all the time!

You know what? I agree with you.

Two trained nurses get sick but not the family members taking care of Duncan in the small apartment.

The baloney concerning this “outbreak” goes on and on.

We are being lied to on a grand scale.

It’s extremely hard to hush it up completely, especially with social media, and especially with the internet in general. Or especially if people see something going on, but can’t find answers. If anything, the ebola cases in the U.S. were reported because at this point, many of the TV News Networks are trying to sell, and thereby admitting to the ebola cases in hopes that they will win over customers with a few truthful facts. However, the real enemy at this point is the fact that people can get plenty of news online for free. Google and Yahoo merely require a sign up to their accounts to read their news headlines.

I’m very happy for her and theothers that have recovered from Ebola, but in the back of my mind I keep remembering at least two HIV patients, one of which is a child in Mississippi, who were declared “HIV Free” only to have the virus detected about 18 month later. What happens if this is the case with Ebola?

God be praised for healing this beautiful young lady, and imbuing her with trust in Him during her treatments.

God bless you, nurse Pham...
