On her MSNBC show today, Alex Wagner found it "surprising" and "distressing" that some were viewing the attack on the Canadian Parliament by a Muslim convert as a "terrorist act." Wagner was joined by CAIR's Nihad Awad who said that anyone claiming "that there is an Islamic component" in the attack shows either "ignorance or hostility" toward Islam.
Another guest claimed the attack was "much more like ordinary crime." Right. No Islamic extremism here. Zehaf-Bibeau was probably just planning to get the Members of Parliament to empty their pockets.

I don’t know just what the media in general up there is saying, but I seem to recall reading that PM Harper called it an act of terrorism. They have to quote the PM, at least.

I wonder if they took a few seconds to actually condemn the act of violence or did they just sit around and whine about it being called a terrorist act.

Mr. Kevin Vickers, the sergeant at arms, after retrieving his firearm from his office, CRAWLED (so cool!) along the wall until he got a clear shot of Babeau or Hall, or Abdul, as he liked being called recently, and sent him to his bloody reward.
I am surprised they did not clamour for Mr. Vickers not to be called up on charges because he did not cry out “Halt” and read him his rights before he blew him away.

He got a standing ovation from Parliament today. I’m very happy to hear that he was honored. All law-abiding citizens should be able to do what he did.

Exactly. I am getting rather “hostile” towards people who call me ignorant for being angry at people who act out violently, murdering, maiming, and killing in the name of their religion.
I saw that too. I loved his face grave, strong, acknowledging their tribute, but maintaining his reserve.
I believe Vickers is Scottish name, and as Mr. Vickers walked in the ceremonial opening, I saw in my mind, brave and noble characters portrayed 1930-1940 movies, and what I imagine heroic true Scots through history that he in form and spirit resembled.
Because of Mr. Vickers, I have a reference to a great Canadian!
We have hate crimes now, that have become elements of prosecution.
Terrorism is both a crime and an act of war, even without a state but, this is a religious war and these A-holes have reached the pinnacle of their vileness and every last one of them ought to be put down like dogs.

If a terrorist makes Youtube videos explaining clearly that his upcoming event is terrorism, pins a note to his chest that explains it is an act of terrorism, and wears at-t-shirt that says "I Am A Terrorist", MSNBC would still be 'distressed' if anyone called it terrorism.
