Toys R Us Is Selling Crystal Meth Toys From Breaking Bad

Parents aren't happy that the toy store chain is selling drug dealer dolls, complete with bags of crystal meth and sacks of cash.

Susan Schrivjer, a mom from Fort Myers, Fla., was a fan of the award-winning AMC show Breaking Bad....

Even so, she thinks it’s not such a great idea to sell action figures based on the show’s notorious crystal meth dealers Walter White and Jesse Pinkman in a store where the customer base is families with young children.

These aren't marketed to little kids, they're marketed to older kids and adults.

Besides, this woman is using the Obama website change.org to effect her cause.....so you know it is useless.

If you don’t like ‘em, don’t buy ‘em!.....................

(This will probably have the exact opposite of the intended effect)...........

I think I made a joke last year that the season’s most ill-advised holiday present was going to be the “Breaking Bad Home Chemistry Kit”.

I wasn’t too far off (but a year early, it seems).

They say it's intended for ages 15 and up. Seriously?

What 15 year old still plays with dolls?

Don’t like it, don’t shop at the store. You know, actually demonstrate your displeasure with your pocketbook.

But no, ‘You must remove this offending product immediately.’

I’m offended by pink boxes for Barbie, they’d best ban those immediately... (Then again, since Barbie sales are crashing, that is much more likely to happen...)

Breaking Bad action figures
One for Walter:
“This unforgettable variant edition figure features Walter as his alter ego of Heisenberg. He comes complete with removable hat, removable glasses, a sack of cash, and a bag of blue crystals.”

One for Jesse:
“Jesse stands 6’ tall and he comes complete with a gas mask, chili powder, and a tray of blue crystal.”

Back in the 1970s, SNL used to have a re-occurring skit with Dan Aykroyd, in which he played a sleazy pitchman peddling "inappropriate" toys for children. I am reminded of that here.

Letting them know why you are not shopping there is a good thing.

People always said that it was Belushi or Chevy Chase that made SNL what it was.

I always thought it was Aykroyd.

If I were a retailer, I’d put the meth dolls next to the Skittles and tea shelf, near the Dindu Nuffins dolls.

A few years ago they were selling Ouija boards. When I explained to my kids what they were and that we definitely weren’t buying one, they were pretty shocked and sad that a toy company would sell them.

I think, though, that ToysRUs just realizes that the buyers are television watchers, whose viewing habits influence their buying habits. They lost our business, but they didn’t need it, anyway.

There is definitely a difference between the kids who watch tv and those who don’t, even if they play a lot on their “devices”. TV watchers mindlessly accept all kinds of @#$.

Today’s kids need something they can relate to, something that reminds them of good ol’ baby mama and her dude.
