True, but how many million (maybe bilions) of American taxpayer dollars have been spent there since that founding? And what have they got to show for it?

Liberia of course is not alone. Billions of aid dollars have been poured into Africa from all over and much of it was squandered. That is why the Chinese are building infrastructure directly themselves and hiring Chinese firms to do the work ... they know that the money will just disappear if given to African governments to implement projects that would help everyone.
