Ebola-Stricken Dallas Nurse Nina Pham Expected to Be Moved to Maryland:
NBC News ^ | 10-16-2014 | Gabe Gutierrez

Posted on 10/16/2014 9:02:55 AM PDT by tcrlaf

Nina Pham, one of the two nurses who contracted Ebola in Dallas, is expected to be moved to a National Institutes of Health isolation unit in Bethesda, Maryland, a federal official with direct knowledge of the plans told NBC News on Thursday.

The transfer could happen later Thursday, but the official cautioned that plans were evolving. Pham, 26, was diagnosed with the virus on Sunday after treating Thomas Eric Duncan, who contracted Ebola in Liberia, flew to Dallas and later died.

The other nurse who contracted Ebola in Dallas, Amber Vinson, was flown on Wednesday to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta. The Emory and NIH units are two of the four facilities in the United States that are specially equipped to handle Ebola.

CDC finally deciding to get SERIOUS about Ebola??

Or because the Dallas Hospital is about to become a nightmare for Democrats, and they want to get the victims in a place where the administration can CONTROL THE NARRATIVE????

No word on condition? Based on the move, I can’t imagine it is improving for either.

Oh no, I thought she was doing well :-(.

I guess it will be bad for morale for her exposed colleagues to watch her suffering and know they could be next

I feel it is to distribute it everywhere, much like the illegal alien children. We need to quit calling it the Ebola epidemic or the HN whatever the hell it is killing kids all over America, and start calling with EVERY thread, political speech and news article “The Democrats Biological Warfare on America”. Please help.

So they’re going to spread the virus to Maryland.

I believe Perry was ready to declare an emergency which would mean the Feds pay for this horrendous display of our "stupid" government.

The worst thing we can do is keep moving people around. The IV's are better in Merryland?

I think what the CDC will shy away from admitting is that there are only twenty-odd hospitals in the entire US with certified and trained staff...capable of handling this.

I remember an article about six weeks ago talking about “zones”. The CDC had a hospital in each zone, and the article simply hinted that if you were noted as having the disease, you’d be sent to this one hospital in that zone. Naturally, you’d wonder who would fly or drive you there, and that was never clear. The last thing on Earth you’d want is some transport jet used for this....crashing in some neighborhood, and putting body parts all over the place from the Ebola victim onboard.

My home state is Bama, and I looked over this zone map and noted that a guy had to be moved to somewhere in south Florida. That’s a fair distance, and this turning into a big logistical mess.

BBBut what happened to Obama’s Ebola SWAT teams which rush to treat the cases where they pop up?

I am beginning to think that treating ebola patients at our current hospitals is a bad idea. Even these specialist centers are full of people..busy with many other patients and staff. Just getting the patient in and evaluating them exposes hundreds of people.
We should be building some green field care units isolated from the big hospital and minimally staffed to do the job. Minimize exposure. Much of the equipment and systems are just not needed to treat this disease. We should be using our Seabees to build these units here..get these cases out of the big hospitals.

They're shifting these people around like checker pieces.

And every shift vastly increases the probability of yet another vector of infection in other parts of the country.

How the govt could EVER be so fu***** stupid as to bring ebola onto this continent in the first place is beyond even my imagination. Why couldn't they set up a hospital ship offshore and treated them there if they HAD to have American medical technology available?

ANYTHING is better than to drop this WMD in the heart of a healthy country and expose virtually everyone to the possibility of contracting this horrible, horrible virus.

But maybe its me. It's early and I'm tired so maybe the govt knows best (slaps himself in the face and grabs for a liquor bottle. Apparently he's not drunk enough yet ;) )

“BBBut what happened to Obama’s Ebola SWAT teams which rush to treat the cases where they pop up?”

You didn’t actually believe that bulls**t, did you?

THERE IS NO PLAN, except trying to control the narrative for the next two weeks.

Something tells me that My case of Ebola will not be covered in my healthcare plan? Nor will jetting me off to some infectious disease center. I think my plan involves a Tyvec wrapped U-haul and a landfill for treatment.

Hey I noticed Ezekeal Emanuel, Obama's architect of social medicine has been mute. Mr. Death panel has nothing to say? Mr. Kill em after 75?

For being such a public health expert, he's awful quiet?

O....KAY....so now that DFW hospital is not an “OBOLA Hospital” it seems. And, indicative of a problem that just isn’t a “wash your hands” problem.

Two or three cases now - what happens when/if it gets to 50 or a 100? A 1000?

they already have patients here

it was reported there is a fairly regular contract ebola flight into an airfield in Frederick

could be we don’t even know how many ebola patients have been airlifted here - to be quarantined and studied like lab rats. Where do you think the US military is going to come when they return from the hot zone?

I see no reason to move this patient....we know it requires strict isolation....we know that people can die from it frequently but there have been survivors...she is young and healthy.....

why risk more exposure by moving her?....why?

Really! Think about this.

You are in a cabinet meeting with the president. Ebola problems are on the agenda. The results of the meeting are to "Control the narrative" for the next two weeks.

Wouldn't you immediately contact the NSA and request a stroke or heart attack?

Don’t see a live thread for the CDC hearing but hope the sheep are seeing it on ABCCBSNBCMSNBC.

Kirsten Powers was being disgustingly defensive about politicizing ebola, Andrea pointed out that the RATS were blaming Rs for Ebola for CDC budget cuts.

Hearing is just a bunch of grandstanding, like Andrea predicted.

Containment should be in the smallest geographic area possible.

The hero of benghazi let the virus in the country and now they are guaranteeing it will be spread throughout a large country of 340 million.

Total idiot or someone determined to wreck destruction?
