The Brooklyn tenant accused of butchering his landlord nearly chopped the man’s head off in a fit of rage because he felt the 57-year-old victim had “teased" him for being poor, police sources said on Wednesday.
Hours after the NYPD pulled off a nick-of-time arrest as Mohammed Siddiquee tried to flee the country, the suspect admitted to perpetrating the vicious killing of Mahuddin Mahmud.
“Yes, I did it,” Mohammed Siddiquee, 27, said nervously when the Daily News asked if he was the culprit as cops hauled him out of a Brooklyn police station on Wednesday.
Siddiquee, 27, who lived in an apartment building in Kensington that Mahmud owned, was collared at Kennedy Airport at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, just before he was to board a flight to Kuwait, police said. Siddiquee’s escape plan was to fly to Kuwait and then hop a plane bound for his native Bangladesh, police sources said.
