What percentage of these teachers voted for Obama and Obamacare?

Maybe 90% or more?

What percentage are able to connect the dots between their votes an their increased health insurance cost?

Internal dialogue for these union teachers:

“Is it going to cost me any money?”

“I’m outraged!”

"Corbett's School Reform Commission has amped up a war on teachers and support staff," AFT President Randi Weingarten said in a statement. "The commission would rather attempt to impose a contract than work with teachers to figure out what is best for Philadelphia's kids."

This has nothing to do with making kids smarter. It's about getting more union members (or less) so that dues can be paid and collected to further the support for opposition to republicans (especially the conservative species of "republican").

Given the fact that they are liberals, one can safely assume that math, science, economics, and just plain morals are not their collective strong points.

Both Superintendent William R. Hite and Philadelphia Federation of Teachers President Jerry Jordan, along with Mayor Michael Nutter, agreed that the problem lies in the state funding formula for education.

This is incredibly, maddeningly, the #1 issue in the PA Governor's race. The problem is not that your school board flushes money down ratholes and spends like a drunken sailor. It's that the state has not FULLY FUNDED them.

And sadly the electorate seems to have bought into the idea that education should be financed by big bags of cash that magically appear from Harrisburg. Wolf is selling this and the public appears to be eating it up.

Khanacademy.org is cheaper and better.

Public schools are a 19th century paradigm that outlived its usefulness in the late 20th century.

With sites like khanacademy, a resonably intelligent kid can be homeschooled through 12th grade in about 8 years. And this is WITHOUT the negative social engineering of public schools.

Maybe they city can consult with Gov. Scott Walker for ideas on how to make cuts without teacher layoffs? Ahh but he’s a vile right winger to be despised.

“Corbett just two weeks ago signed off on a $2-a-pack cigarette tax in Philadelphia, which city leaders had sought to raise $83 million a year for the school district. “

I thought cigarettes were heavily taxed to encourage quitting and to pay for smokers’ extraordinary health care costs.

Silly me.

I know. It is unbelievable how stupid Pennsylvanians have become. To think this has any impact on the governor race is sick.

The math doesn’t work with all these union giveaways - the teachers can’t add revenues and subtract benefits and realize that it’s a negative number.

I remember reading that the union health insurance covers unlimited viagra pills. Most insurance companies only allow 4 pills per month. The teachers were getting lots of pills and then selling them on the black market.

-— that cancels their union contract and forces them to start paying health premiums. -—

Obama voting is such sweet sorrow.

Some fun government school facts:

PS teachers send their kids to private schools at twice the national average.

Homeschoolers score in the 85th-90th percentile in every academic measure, outperforming even private schools by 10%.

Inner city government schools have 100x more administrators per pupil than city parochial schools.

Pass it on.

You would think a teacher might be able to figure that out...
