Rick Perry announces Ebola task force
msnbc ^ | 10/6/14 | j timm

With close to 4,000 documented cases of Ebola worldwide recorded as of this weekend, according to the CDC, American officials are working to isolate and prevent the disease from spreading in the U.S.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry – whose state is currently handling the only confirmed case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States – announced a new task force Monday to handle the current Ebola outbreak and other infectious diseases in the future. Thomas Eric Duncan, a Liberian resident, is receiving treatment for the disease in Dallas.

“Today, I issued an executive order creating the Texas task force on infectious disease and response,” Perry said, adding that it will “enhance our ability to quickly and effectively halt the spread of infectious disease.”

Perry, who is openly contemplating a presidential run in 2016, thanked the federal government for its resources and support. But he also criticized the federal government for allowing the case in the U.S. and suggested that better screening precautions be implemented at airports.

“There’s only so much that a state can do and many of the circumstances that lead to this,” he said. “Washington needs to take immediate steps to minimize” the risks of Ebola.

Perry argued for screening procedures at border crossing areas for people traveling to the U.S. from Ebola hot spots. He also suggested taking passengers’ temperatures to “prevent contagions from entering the country.”

In Washington, President Obama will meet his national security team and senior staff to discuss the Ebola outbreak and the government response this afternoon, as his surrogates fend off critics like Perry about how the government is handling the crisis.

Hey Governor: why is it that “There’s only so much that a state can do?"

when the federal govt says this: “The bottom line is we know how to stop it and it’s not going to spread widely in the U.S.,” Center for Disease Control Dr. Thomas Frieden said Sunday.

IT IS NOT BELIEVABLE.

Governor, you were hired to protect the citizens of this state. I suggest you begin NOW. You can seal the borders if you want to. I also suggest airports. You have the power. If the feds interfere, there are a 100k armed Texans who will have the back of state officers.

Perry has done more to stop Ebola than Obama, the CDC and the rest of the idiots at Fedzilla.

God Bless Rick Perry.

I saw this guy on Fox this morning, and he looks and acts like a bureaucrat spouting the party line and in lock step with his master, Baraq.

Are you willing to bet YOUR life and the lives of your family that this guy is telling the truth, or really even has a clue?

Can’t have Mexico become angry at the political class, don’t you know. No one in the power seat cares what happens as long as they come out looking non damaged politically. I will be so glad when the revolt begins and people move from their comfort zones. The ballot box is rigged. The aristocrats are dividing the people and conquering more control. Everything comes back to believers and non believers. Something should had been done long ago with the open borders situation and the powerful leaders should have helped to educate the poor nations from these horrific diseases before this became such a loss of many lives. And, the liberals boast they are the righteous. Give me a break.

I don’t think Perry is grandstanding. I hope he stops the people from grandstanding in Texas, like the judge who didn’t bother with any protection when he transported the family.

Perry is correct, if the Fed are going to pretend it’s not a problem, it’s up to the states to step in. The Feds just released one of the family members to go to work. She should have been in quarantine for 21 days at least.

In Spain, besides the Spanish nurse, there is a second person who helped treat the Ebola victims in Spain, who may have Ebola.

And, everyone who thinks Perry is so right on. Tell me why he will not do anything about the border issue. Good man good woman stuff just doesn’t cut it. You need a person who stands up to this imperial president. He’s met with Obama and we have seen the pictures of Perry laughing. Yes, he’s better than a true blue liberal but he sure does act political to me about the border. I wouldn’t want be a man woman in his army and to lay my life down unless I am missing something about Perry.

Not me. I for one would far rather trust my Governor than a DC bureaucrat. One reason is I have a better chance of going up to Austin and strangling him if he lies to me and a loved one gets infected.

As I said, “IT IS NOT BELIEVABLE. “

“The CDC is in Atlanta.”

We all know that, but, like the IRS debacle, from whone do these people take their marching orders from?

Remember, Everything these people do is political, and not for the benefit of Americans.

Are you suggesting someone in the Southern state of Georgia is calling the shots?

They keep saying they can control it by taking temps before flying.

That is BULL.

Many cases in Africa and the Dallas case show that even AFTER the victim is actually sick with fever AND vomiting and diarrhea - the initial tests show negative...and they are sent home with an antibiotic.

It seems only when the ebola is full blown and the patient debilitated, that the tests come in positive.

Add to that they are doing little to nothing to quarantine people who have been exposed - not even keeping track of them!

Well, CDC is an operating division of HHS. Friedan reports to Burwell.

PERRY ECHOES OBAMA: NO TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS FROM EBOLA NATIONS

http://www.breitbart.com/Breitbart-Texas/2014/10/06/Perry-Echoes-Obama-No-Travel-Restrictions-from-Ebola-Nations

From the article....

...Where Perry announced the creation of a new task force to combat deadly viruses, the governor refused to accept that a travel ban would be in the best interest of the United States. Rather, he advocated for various screening methods.

Perry argued that travelers should have their temperatures taken, and advocated for “staffing quarantine stations” at points of entry.

Never mind that these Ebola folks are taking Advil to reduce their fever and lying on their departure forms, Gov Perry.

“The bottom line is we know how to stop it and it’s not going to spread widely in the U.S.,”

So the message has evolved from “it’s impossible for 0bola to come to America.”
