A troubling question on GOP race to re-take Senate
americanthinker.com ^ | 10/6/2014 | Carol Brown

As the mid-term election approaches, there is increasing focus on Senate races. Real Clear Politics shows these states as toss-ups: Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. (Michigan flips back and forth from being a toss up to leaning Dem.)

If you look at the map with no toss ups, it shows the GOP winning anywhere from 50-52 seats. But if you look at the polling margin that pushes a state into one column or the other (Dem or GOP), you can see how fragile the situation is. We have some candidates leading by as little as a fraction of a percentage point. That’s absurd and can turn on a dime. The fact that the GOP is struggling in states that should be solid red states is a bad a sign. And most of these toss up states are states Romney won in 2012.

Aye, aye, aye, aye, aye. Never underestimate the power of the lsm to get out the lies early and often. Never underestimate the sorry state of affairs in the gop-e and their ability to foot shoot themselves. It's almost like they are clueless bufoons. Oh, wait.

It’s an indication of how powerful the progressive machine is, how stupid the public can be, how demographics are shifting, and what a holy mess the GOP is.

My vote is for number 4.

LOL! Since they choices weren’t actually numbered, I have to think you mean the gop is a holy mess. Actually they are an unholy mess if you ask me.

Pretty much sums it up. Whether or not the GOPe takes back the Senate the fact that it is even this close and that they may not is an unmitigated disaster.

Fraudulent info at least from GA, the Democrats have virtually no chance of winning here.

It really is amazing that after six years of the destruction of America by JugEars and his fellow Bolsheviks, the Republicans are not running the table, with blowout numbers, against the Dims in all but the most socialist of states.

The best fiction writer could not come up with a more inept party that the Republicans.

Not to worry. There are many right here on Free Republic working hard to ensure a Democrat led Senate in November. It’s the only way that conservatives can show that they mean business. Going out of business that is.

This election is well within the margin of being stolen by the Dems.

"no toss ups, it shows the GOP winning anywhere from 50-52 seats"

Reading this situation from a neutral view, I think it's fair to consider the 50-52 as likely wins, or the base, and then splitting nine of the tossups 4.5 to 4.5, so it seems like 54.5 to 56.5 likely for the red side, at least.

For the GOP, close races are lost races. The Dems can always manufacture a thousand or two votes long after the polls are closed.

or, as it was two years ago, being completely effed up by the GOPe....

the GOPe had their lunch handed to them in 2006. Their only respite was when we (Tea Party) got out there and kicked the libs butts in 2010 and the GOPe effed us in the end...the GOPe is as big a mess now as it was the day after the 2006 midterms...

They talk about GOP’s weak leads in Ak(Begitch)AR(Pryor)LA(Landreiu) and Georgia(Nunn) All legacy names. Throw in that 3 of them are incumbents, and I say they are not doing too badly. Remember, undecideds usually break away from the incumbent, 2 to 1. We will win these 4 plus Iowa. Montana, South Dakota, and West Virginia will flip. I wish Roberts and Tillis we not such bad candidates.

Look...folks......this upcoming election is not about politics at all. It is simply about saving our nation!!! The current Obamabot, Democrat Party must be totally politically, destroyed on November 4, 2014!!! All these Freepers ranting & raving this or that is nothing but pure hogwash!!!

We either broom the Democrats by getting out to vote, and make Obama an Instant “Lame Duck”, or, we sit on our hands, stay home and not vote, while we give Obama and his Democrat “hate America” ilk, the green light to continue to destroy our beloved nation!!! It’s simply good versus evil!!! Politics has nothing to do with it!!! Obama is not leaderless...he is purposely leading our nation into destruction!!!

All American voters should cast their ballots against all Democrats.....period!!! This BS crap about staying home or or getting even, is both hogwash and stupidity. it is biting one’s nose off to spite their face!!! Idiots posing as Freepers!!!

And when the GOPe looses this go around, they will be the first to blame voters rather then themselves for their losses..

They are already setting that up by blaming those who refuse to vote for the GOPe candidate for legitimate reasons.

Nose holding votes are better than no votes. I don’t have any holes in my feet yet. And you are correct about getting the dhimmiokkkrats out. They need to go. And keep going.

should we also then vote against democrats that claim to be republicans?

If so, should we then vote libertarian??

There are GOPe backed “rinos” who would be a better fit in the democrat column.

So you consider Cochran, Graham, McCain, McConnell, Romney, Bohner, et al, effective leaders and spokesman for the conservatives, and that our cause is winning. We put those guys in office, and do they represent us? What is the point of them?

The alternative is Democrat Party hegemony in our politics. I will not choose that route, nor support those who think it right to take it.

I realize that most who are ranting against the GOP establishment are not really supporting Democrats, in fact most are just sitting passively on the sidelines. They aren’t standing on principle, they are just standing around doing nothing.
