Hispanic independence movement?
Milwaukee J-S ^ | 05 oct 2014 | Esther J. Cepeda

Hispanics contemplating the upcoming elections must be wondering: "What now?"

President Barack Obama has shown Hispanics that he takes us for granted. The midterm elections won't feature a "Latino vote" storyline in the most contested high-level races. As far as 2016 is concerned, it's a crapshoot.

How best to proceed then?

Disengage from the political process?

Carry on with straight-ticket voting and hope that any new officeholders will be better than the current ones?

Decide that -- at least in the voting booth -- maybe the devil you know is really no better than the devil you don't?

These questions are imperative to far more Hispanics than just those whose most important election issue is immigration.

For many, the biggest concern going into next month's vote is whether or not politicians of either party will ever take Hispanic voters seriously.

According to some longtime political activists and community leaders, it all depends on how much pressure Hispanics can put on Washington.

During a live BlogTalkRadio roundtable discussion -- "The Latino Political House Is Divided: Which Side Are You On -- Immigrant Families or the Democratic Party?" -- three Latino organizers discussed their separation from the presumed alliance of grassroots and national immigrant rights organizations. They stressed that Hispanic voters must overcome the degradation that has enveloped both the advocacy organizations that depend on Washington funding and the politicians who rely on these organizations' support.

“Straight-ticket voting” is a badge of honor among ignorant and lower intelligence types. After all, they don’t have to actually think and even better, will never be aware of the consequences of their voting habits.

The only thing on a straight-ticket voter is:

1. My family has always voted this way.
2. Since I never pay attention to politics I don’t have to think.
3. I vote the way “THEY” tell me to.
4. If I vote any other way I might lose benefits.
5. And finally, “I don’t know why?” We have just always done it that way.

Really, my first thought, too. If I was going to pick a Latino independence movement, it would be the break from the enslavement of socialist governments that have been consuming South and Central American nations and their peoples for decades. Given the misery and the death toll, I would expect a bloody retribution.

Here’s a suggestion...

Go the **** back to Mexico, or wherever else you might have come from. There you can have a totally independent country that is just chock full of Hispanics.

Black and brown inorities will never be satisfied as long as liberals promote identity group politics instead of Americanism.

Remember this old adage? United we Stand, Divided We fall

Well, we are falling.

Well, I would recommend that if Hispanics want to end up as crime-ridden, gov dependent, and disfunctional as blacks then they should, by all means, vote dhimmicratic.

Since he is not doing his job (learned this is classified under malfeasance from another freeper) and impeachable, how about we get them all out under the same crime since the rest of the government isn’t doing their job by getting him out! Plus get the VA directors out for not doing their jobs and get rid of all the other government departments we don’t need or lessen their powers to cover only what they should be doing. This power grab also has to be controlled through the Constitution. The “executive orders” power has to be defined.

Those who are doing the brainstorming (obviously the VP and his boss are not brainstorming) must also be charged with treason and all meetings must be documented. Every word should be judged. Like when we stand before the Throne. (I have an in with The Judge-He is also my defense lawyer. :)

That’s a concern I have. The GOP seems to be just “writing off” the Hispanic vote like they have with the Black community. To do so will be at our own peril. The GOP must figure out how to reach Hispanics; and we don’t have to give the 11 million illegals, who are here, amnesty to do it. Most Hispanics have basic, conservative values such as family and hard work. And, many Latinos, especially the ones who obtained citizenship via the lawful system, resent the very thought of those who sneaked in, getting a free ride. Trust me.

You are correct Vaduz. However, the Hispanic community feels like Obama and the Dems have let them down. They are "conflicted" as to where to turn. This is a great time and opportunity for the GOP to steal the Hispanic vote from the Dems. And we can do it w/o Amnesty. Hispanics are basically conservative (family values, hard work, etc.) So, we don't need to promise them the moon. Just promise them Conservative leadership.
