AP Poll: Americans Lose Confidence in Goverment's Ability to Protect Under Obama

Americans lack confidence in the government's ability to protect their personal safety and economic security, a sign that their widespread unease about the state of the nation extends far beyond politics, according to the latest Associated Press-GfK poll.

With Election Day about a month away, more than half those in the survey said Washington can do little to effectively lessen threats such as climate change, mass shootings, racial tensions, economic uncertainty and an unstable job market.

"I think what we've got going on here in America is the perfect storm of not good things," said Joe Teasdale, 59, who lives in southwest Wisconsin and works as an assistant engineer at a casino.

For many of those questioned in the poll, conducted before doctors in Texas diagnosed a Liberian man with the Ebola virus, the concern starts with the economy.The poll found that 9 in 10 of those most likely to vote in the Nov. 4 election call the economy an extremely or very important issue. Teasdale is among those who say the slow recovery from the recession is a top concern.

Despite improvements nationally, business is far from booming in his state, Teasdale said. He's been supplementing his stagnant salary by renovating and renting out duplexes and has little faith the situation will improve soon. He wants government to get out of the way of business.

Other than treaties with other nations, the role of the Federal Government is to protect its citizens.

If they do not do that, there is really nothing else we Americans need from the feds, so why have it?

I'm still shocked that the CDC did NOTHING in Dallas, instead, leaving it to local officials to contract with "The Cleaning Guys."

If an Eboloa outbreak in a major city isn't a national health emergency, what is?

It’s certainly being proved that CDC and whoever is associated was not prepared , are they now? Maybe.

I just think so many of thesse organizations have been more about meetings, planning and paer but not the follow through to see things are in place.

Additionally...one of the greatest issues about this beast Ebola is few want to treat or be around those with this disease. That will surely continue.

Confidence in the Government - Never was confident in the Government to begin with, with Obama at the helm, it is like the Titanic on its maiden voyage - everything looks great, suddenly it meanders off course and lo and behold what was considered unsinkable - sinks. The US Government under Obama it is intended purposes are to fail at all costs. The administration is doing everything in its power to bilk the taxpayers out of everything. All because of the history of America’s first black president. No it America’s first Affirmative Action President - whom is an anabject utter disgrace to all Americans.

FLASHBACK: Obama Administration Dumped Quarantine Rules----sucked-up to civil libertarians
Breitbart ^ | 10/01/14 | Kerry Picket / Posted by Enlightened1

Politico initially reported in August of 2009 that the Obama administration examined Bush administration 2005 quarantine regulations, which were criticized by civil liberty advocates.

In April 2010, Politico reported the administration “quietly dumped quarantine rules that would have required air passengers to submit more information to airlines and strengthened the government's authority to detain travelers suspected of carrying disease.” (Excerpt) Read more at breitbart.com ...

Hillary wrote "it takes a village." But it took only one doofus--- Obama---to expose the lib/prog's dumb "humanitarian" elitism that is endangering us.

These brain-dead, feel-good types believe “singling out” backward nations or antediluvian cultures which pose deadly threats to the public health or safety of Americans “stigmatizes” those nations or cultures, it “shames” them, it makes them "feel" unequal.

It’s (horrors) "judgmental."

We can never, Ever suggest that America prefers already existing tax-paying, law-abiding citizens to foreigners w/ big plans for our heads.

Dumbo Dummycrats are the reasons for the deluge of Central American refugees, the reason why illegals never feel the sting of US justice, the reason we remain unable to strip jihadists of US citizenship.

The reason why a year after two Chechen refugees on expired visas bombed/maimed/killed Boston Marathoners, America is preparing to expand resettlement of blood-thirsty individuals who have big plans for our heads, and border-jumpers carrying horrific contagious diseases.

Too bad we don’t have a parliamentary government that allows a vote of no confidence to correct the stupid voters’ mistake in voting for an incompetent president.

Why do you think Gun show and Pawn shop sales are booming. It isn’t because everybody has suddenly decided to hunt deer.

No, anybody with half a brain - that excudes liberals, knows the Obama government will not and cannot protect the citizens. The LEO claim to serve and protect is implied but not guaranteed. So ultimately, who is really responsible for the protection of the lives and property of you and your loved ones. You are!

These are trying times...

As long as the State Dept airheads---Harf, Psaki, Rice--- continue to mumble inanities, US ntl security is a myth.

=================================================

THE WASHINGTON POST IS REPORTED THURSDAY: In the spring, ousted SS head, Julia Pierson, was irate at what she considered the excessive security measures planned for the US-Africa Leaders Summit, which Obama hosted this summer, demanding that it dismantle extra layers of fencing and reopen closed streets, according to two agency supervisors.

SS supervisors who had mapped out the security plan said they were taken aback-------b/c Pierson, who worked during high school at Walt Disney World as a costumed character and park attendant, told them: “We need to be more like Disney World.......more friendly, inviting.”

=============================================

This is the demented Lost in Space world Obama and the prog/libs reside in.....feel-goodism up close.

There's no moral absolutes---no right or wrong. Even a hint of Christian-like "judgementalisn" is considered un-PC.

It's the Planned Parenthood dicta---do what makes YOU feel good about yourself.

===========================================

The buzz is more reports are coming out about SS snafus---although it would be hard to beat the Mandela Memorial scenario of Obama w/ the fake interpreter....and why the SS did not know he was a CRAZED MURDERER.

Maybe ousted SS head Julia Pierson---an ex-Disney World costumed character---thought the interpreter was just a happy-go-lucky "Uncle Remus" ......about to break into a chorus of Zippity-Doo-Dah?

It is not that government isn’t helping us it is that government is throwing up roadblocks in every direction.

They have also chosen to support the unproductive and reward anyone who won’t help themselves while the productive are punished and dogged, regulated and fined.

We have to have them tell us what light bulbs to us, what kind of toilets we can have, etc. Good heavens, these are things they get paid the big bucks to decide for us./s

Obama’s failure in the appointment of the head of the Secret Service is germane to the issue malice vs. incompetence argument about Obama’s character. For the head of the Secret Service, he chose a frumpy middle aged woman who had political bona fides but couldn’t handle the job. He chose allegiance to political correctness and affirmative action over his family’s personal safety. A clever man would have made a better choice.

The government's ability to protect is just fine.

What's missing is the government's willingness to protect.
