Plans for new settlements in East Jerusalem pose a threat to peace and Israel’s relations with the European Union, the 28-member bloc said on Friday, joining the United States in its criticism of the decision.

The strong language from the European Union, the biggest aid donor to the Palestinians, who seek statehood in territories captured by Israel in the 1967 war, echoes criticism from Germany, France and Washington.

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said the decision to build 2,610 homes in Givat Hamatos would be the first new settlement in the East Jerusalem area for 15 years.

“This represents a further highly detrimental step that undermines prospects for a two-state solution and calls into question Israel’s commitment to a peaceful negotiated settlement with the Palestinians,” the European Union’s External Action Service said in a statement. …

So the EU is also against Israel developing a part of Jerusalem with no prior Arab claims, in order to house black Jews and assorted Muslims.

The settlement issue is always something every President touches on .....because the Muslims definatly hate that Israel is doing so, ...they understand, and so does Israel that this isn't about homes....it's about land....and claims to.

Which is exactly why Muslims build Mosques and community centers ‘here’....they claim “ the land”....though few here understand they believe that way.

Every single Israeli settlement home built represents to a Muslim those plots of "land" Israel has now laid claim to...so it's a loss to them, even if on Israels own land!

Jerusalem is Israel, that includes East Jerusalem. This should not be negotiable.

The land belongs to Israel!! The PA is not a country; but just a bunch of Arabs squatting on land belonging to real countries.

I’m tired of the EU and the UN (as well as the Obama administration) trying to force Israel to surrender to their Socialist ideals.

Why doesn’t the EU “lead by example” by returning Normandy to the English?

Build Baby Build. Jerusalem is not a new settlement unless over 3,000 years is considered new.

Tell the EU Nazi Fascists to F-OFF. Budinsky’s not welcome.

Worry about bankrupt Spain and Greece, and terrorist Turkey
