Nope Solar Cycle 24 is a dud. It’s a day late and a dollar short. There are some interesting patterns in the currents that predict what the next cycle will be like and it looks like SS25 is really going to suck.
Then there’s the Livingson and Penn theory. Several years ago, they noticed that the magnetic field of each sunspot (no matter how big the spot) was dropping at a steady rate. Over the years, sunspots have faithfully been measured and, so far, L&P’s predictions are holding water. The thing is, once the magnetic field drops to a certain point, a sunspot cannot form. If the magnetic fields continue to drop, we’re going to be having a very quiet sun for awhile.

So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

Are you familiar with a government exercise run in the early/mid 00’s (around 2003, I think) called “Dark Winter”? Simulated Smallpox pandemic that entered the US across the Southern border. Really scary stuff, and that was just in the parts they released to the public.

Your take seems quite plausible with this evil bunch, but how would they take out so many of us without contracting the illnesses themselves?
Particularly in places, like the US, which have sophisticated infrastructure for handling infectious disease outbreaks. Health workers are used to dealing with plenty of diseases far more infectious than Ebola.
