Missing Austin girl Sabrina Allen found in Mexico after 12 years

The Texas girl, who disappeared when she was 4, was placed in the care of a clinical psychologist after returning Tuesday night, according to local news outlets. Her captor - the estranged wife of her father, Greg Allen - was also transported back from Mexico and was taken into custody.

A father's unwavering love brought his daughter home after she disappeared 12 years ago.

In a secret rescue mission made for the movies, a joint task force of U.S. and Mexican law enforcement agencies discovered missing Texas girl Sabrina Allen living in a small apartment about 10 miles southeast of Mexico City with her wanted mother, Dara Llorens.

...

Allen said his daughter was "not living a regular life" in Mexico with her mother, and was kept inside the apartment rather than placed in school. Now 17, she is currently in the care of a clinical psychologist who will determine when Sabrina is ready to see her father and his new family. Allen was remarried about 10 years ago and has children with his current wife.

...

When asked what advice he would give other parents going through the same horrific experience, Allen said not to give up.

"Don’t quit," he said. "It’s a long road. You don’t know what the outcome is. The hardest thing for me to learn was that I can have a life while I’m looking for her, because the first couple of years I would work as hard as I could and then I would crash. I was not going to survive it."

That poor girl was robbed of her childhood and education by her own mother. It could be a long, tough road for her.

True. What a mess.

Didn’t click the link but I’m wondering if the mother was a Mexican citizen. If she was that would probably mean that the girl is too...in which case it’s surprising that a Fourth World cesspool nation like Mexico would return the girl here.

Mother and daughter, in other words.

I guess if someone keeps you locked up and denies you a normal life captor is an apt term.

as opposed to being robbed of her mother by a vengeful father?....

she was with her mother....period...mothers have a few rights left in this world don't they?...

by the way, a few years ago two young women were found after being stolen away by their daddy who told them their mother was dead....

practically nothing happened to him...community service..

it seems so many have a double standard...if mom takes her kid, its horrible and calls for govt action...but daddy does it, and its ho hum....

I wish that secret joint task force would go rescue a Marine in Mexico while they’re at it.
