About 500 soldiers from Fort Riley, Kan., will deploy to the Middle East in late October to support the mission to “degrade and destroy” Islamic State militants, the Department of Defense announced Thursday.
About 200 of the soldiers from Fort Riley’s 1st Infantry Division, the “Big Red One,” will deploy directly to Baghdad and Irbil in Iraq. The rest will be stationed in the region and deployed to Iraq over time.
The Defense Department said the soldiers are preparing for a one-year mission.

Change the “Middle East” to Vietnam and 500 “soldiers” to advisers, and it’s circa 1962 again.
In their rules of engagement they will NOT be allowed to put their boots on the ground. Jet packs and those electric two wheelers that you see in the airport terminals will be provided. No boots on the ground. Obama has said it. So it has been written, so it shall be dome.....!

My first thought also. In addition to leaving their Bibles behind, they better leave their boots.
This is the Heaquarters of the 1st Infantry Division (Big Red One). How long do you think it will take to start sending their Combat Brigades? By the way, two Battalions from my sons SF Group are on their way also. I guess they will be wearing Sandals.

Go in with the fastest and the mostest or stay on the porch. No need to get 500 more men killed, just use our weapons against them, Shock and Awe.
Prayers of course, daily and throughout the day (and when I wake up in the middle of the night). However, I think we have a right to sue the executive branch and the head of the military for not acting sooner, for not executing the strikes at prime kill time, and for the lousy COIN rules of engagement as being treasonous. Reason being, if ISIL/ISIS had been taken out months ago, they would not have been able to develop this weapon and thousands of American lives would have been saved in all of our wars since Vietnam.
