A major Taliban offensive in eastern Afghanistan over the past week has left up to 100 civilians and security personnel dead, 12 of them beheaded, officials say, as violence worsens with the withdrawal of US-led troops.
This northern summer's fighting season has seen Taliban forces advance in several provinces, exploiting a political deadlock in Kabul over disputed presidential election results.
The latest series of attacks have focused on Ajristan district in the eastern province of Ghazni, after offensives in recent months in Kandahar, Helmand and Logar provinces.
'The militants beheaded 12 civilians in four villages,' Mohammad Ali Ahmadi, deputy governor of Ghazni, said on Friday.
'We do not have a precise figure, but we estimate 80 to 100 people were killed over the past one week.
'Heavy fighting has involved hundreds of Taliban against the security forces.'
'At the moment, the condition is very critical in this district. We have been informed by the central government that they have sent reinforcements.'

Obama is going to leave another mess in the Mid East, just like Iraq, Libya, Egypt and eventually, Syria.
“Obama is going to leave another mess in the Mid East, just like Iraq, Libya, Egypt and eventually, Syria.”
Yeah. Just like we did with Germany, japan, and Korea,,,,, oh! wait!
Thanks, Barack!
It is hard not to see a trend here- US goes hysterical over TWO beheadings, and suddenly we are hearing of them worldwide. I know muslims love to behead, but still.
America has become a terrible "friend". It is no wonder we can't get any support against ISIS. Who wants to be identified with us?
Detroit dead, Taliban alive.
I’m not sure, but doesn’t Obama consider the Taliban to be “partners in peace” or something?
Islam beheading to you, Detroit already got it.
"Our" side is those who've become massively rich and corrupt with all the resources we've used to prop them up. Did the US ever win over the Afghani population? Or just the ones we paid off?
Think about the three Afghani officers who were AWOL from training on Cape Cod? Is the US still grooming Afghanis to support US policy there? Maybe the people are fed up with it and they're barbaric about trying to stop our influence in Afghanistan.
Just a hypothesis.
They were going to Canada because they probably had family or friends there.
As for Afghanistan/Iraq/Syria and the NO BOOTS agenda...no boots = Islam victory = executive branch (Iranian Jarrett) victory.
In another article/blog about the attack...
“If there is no urgent help from the central government, the district will collapse,” Safi said earlier.
and...
“Without international support it will be hard to provide security ... The example of Ajrestan district shows that without international commitment of troops, it will be difficult to handle the Taliban.”

As far as Syria, Iraq, and Libya? If US regime change hadn't created vacuums, we wouldn't have the problem US policy created in those places.
We should be working with Assad to help him strengthen his power and fight destroy ISIS along with us. F*** what Saudi Arabia wants.
