Federal Court: Walker Campaign Probe a State Issue
ABC News ^ | September 25, 2014 | By SCOTT BAUER

A federal appeals court on Wednesday removed one barrier to restarting an investigation into possible illegal coordination between Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's campaign and more than two dozen conservative groups, a legal setback for the Republican who is locked in a tough re-election campaign.

The three-judge panel of the 7th U.S. Court of Appeals overturned a lower court ruling that halted the probe, but the judges found state courts are the proper venue to resolve legal issues with the case.

Despite the ruling, the investigation won't resume immediately because the state judge overseeing it also effectively stopped it in January by denying requested subpoenas, saying he didn't believe anything illegal had transpired. The Wisconsin Supreme Court is deciding whether to take the case and has not indicated when it will make a decision.

Speaking to reporters minutes after the ruling, Walker said the appeals court decision "really doesn't matter" because the investigation remains blocked in state court.

The GOP had better wise up - the judges and bureaucracy the liberals have been putting in place are rapidly criminalizing the political process. This will not end well.

The case is already shut down on the State level and no evidence that it will be restarted.

Win for Walker.

In a banana republic such as ours, where the courts (allowed by a useless legislature) effectively *make* law, ideological control of the courts means controlling the people by judicial edict.

The libs have known this for decades, and pursued it well. Complacent and complicit Republicans have helped it along.

The leftists running the Democrat party use the judiciary to silence critics on trumped up allegations and phoney violations, yet justice never seems to come to them when they commit crimes. Dinesh D’Sousa barely escaped jail time for some phony violation of election laws that Democrats violate with impunity. VA officials who manipulated patient waiting lists to fraudulently get bonuses are not being held accountable despite some veterans dying as a result of their fraud. Lois Lerner and others at the IRS are clearly guilty of obstructing justice yet will never be prosecuted. Scooter Libby spent time in jail for similar but lesser offenses.

I did not see this post (stupidly) and re-posted the article. Anywho, you are absolutely correct. To me, the single most alarming development, trumping anything and everything Obama has done, are cases like this that criminalize the opposition.

DeLay, Christie (not a fan, but still), Perry and more to come.

Its not that D’Sousa didn’t violate a law, he did. It is exactly as you say, however, the unequal application of the law. Unions and the democrats need not obey any election or campaign finance law and, when caught, receive a slap on the wrist. When only one side is held to account for violating the law that is criminalizing opposition.
