To Save the Planet, Don’t Plant Trees (causes global warming)
NY Times ^ | 9/19/14 | NADINE UNGER

**SNIP**

Of course, this is counterintuitive. We all learn in school how trees effortlessly perform the marvel of photosynthesis: They take up carbon dioxide from the air and make oxygen. This process provides us with life, food, water, shelter, fiber and soil. The earth’s forests generously mop up about a quarter of the world’s fossil-fuel carbon emissions every year.

So it’s understandable that we’d expect trees to save us from rising temperatures, but climate science tells a different story. Besides the amount of greenhouse gases in the air, another important switch on the planetary thermostat is how much of the sun’s energy is taken up by the earth’s surface, compared to how much is reflected back to space. The dark color of trees means that they absorb more of the sun’s energy and raise the planet’s surface temperature.

Climate scientists have calculated the effect of increasing forest cover on surface temperature. Their conclusion is that planting trees in the tropics would lead to cooling, but in colder regions, it would cause warming.

I'm still wondering when hoax deniers will be giving up their cars and private jets.

Liberals are stupid.

What’s hilarious is the erstwhile tree-huggers are now the enemy of trees.

You can’t make this up.

When is useless eater Algore going to send me a carbon credit check for the 20 fruit trees I have planted

My trees feed people. They are not useless like AlGore and Leo Decaprio

One ‘bright’ nut wanted to dump soot over the ice caps to melt them and prevent an ice age. Later, another nimrod wanted to paint everything [that the sun beats on] white to reflect sunlight. Now we need to paint the leaves’ sunny side of leaves I suppose — white when it’s a global warming scare and black when they worry about an ice age. Hitting the paint store now!

[Poor trees.]

So lumberjacks are good, especially in the sacred Amazon. The makers of Emerald Forest will be foaming at the mouth!

Don’t you dare be a denier. Go to the paint store and get busy painting your trees like me. A small sacrifice for the fragile planet. Oh, and don’t forget to cut down a real Christmas tree every year.

Godspeed to your grove!

But you bring up an interesting point. Carbon credits mainly involve planting trees, right? Oh boy....

The same arguments suggest that solar cells and solar absorbers also capture and retain energy that would also be reflected back thereby increasing the heat load.

I thought CO2 was considered a "polutant" by the Climate "Science" scientists?

Trees consume CO2 or we would all be dead.

What am I missing here?

The first thing necessary to be a hoax denier is to believe that God is incompetent in systems design.

That’s a landing, not a clear-cut. Most likely in the northeast.

I keep waiting for them to save the planet by offing themselves.
But, no, it’s everyone else they want to commit suicide - not themselves.

So, based on this, one of the worst things to do for the environment is to pave nearly white desert dirt with square miles of black solar panes. Surprise, surprise, that's the plan.

Call this being carbonphobic. We should also ban the growing of beans with all the gas they cause. Actually, this man made global warming thing is just so much hot gas. I wish these environmental idiots would at least give us a courtesy flush.

Cards: Painting the roses red
We’re painting the roses red
We dare not stop
Or waste a drop
So let the paint be spread
We’re painting the roses red
We’re painting the roses red

Oh, painting the roses red
And many a tear we shed
Because we know
They’ll cease to grow
In fact, they’ll soon be dead
And yet we go ahead
Painting the roses red
Painting the roses red
We’re painting the roses red

Alice: Oh, pardon me
But Mister Three
Why must you paint them red?

[Speech]
Cards: Huh? Oh!
Three: Well, the fact is, Miss
We planted the white roses by mistake,
And...

Cards: The Queen she likes ‘em red
If she saw white instead,
Two: She’d raise a fuss
Ace: And each of us
Cards: Would quickly lose his head

[Speech]
Alice: Goodness!

Cards: Since this is the part we dread
We’re painting the roses red

[Speech]
Alice: Oh, Dear! Then let me help you

Alice: Painting the roses red
All: We’re painting the roses red
Don’t tell the Queen what you have seen
Or say that’s what we said
But we’re painting the roses red
Alice: Yes, painting the roses red
Two: Not pink
Ace: Not green
Alice: Not aquamarine
All: We’re painting the roses red!
Reprise (Who’s Been Painting My Roses Red?)
The Queen of Hearts: Who’s been painting my roses red?
Who’s been painting my roses red?!
Who dares to paint with vulgar paint
The royal flower bed
For painting my roses red
Someone will lose his head
2 of Clubs: Oh no! Your Majesty, please! It’s all his fault!
3 of Clubs: Not me, Your Grace, the Ace! The Ace!
Queen of Hearts: You?
Ace of Clubs: No! Two!
Queen of Hearts: The Deuce you say?
2 of Clubs: Not me, the Tres!

[Speech]
Queen of Hearts: THAT’S ENOUGH!!! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!!!

Cards: They’re going to lose their heads
For painting the roses red
It serves them right
They planted white
But roses should be red
Oh, they’re going to lose their heads...

[Speech]
Queen of Hearts: SILENCE!!!
