The Crumbling Climate-Change Consensus: Extremists’ rhetoric heats up as their case falls apart.
National Review ^ | 09/22/2014 | John Fund

The United Nations Climate Summit will begin in New York this Tuesday, but environmental activists didn’t wait. All day Sunday, they filled the streets of Manhattan for a march that featured Al Gore, New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, and various Hollywood actors.

But they certainly didn’t act like a movement that was winning. There was a tone of fatalism in the comments of many with whom I spoke; they despair that the kind of radical change they advocate probably won’t result from the normal democratic process. It’s no surprise then that the rhetoric of climate-change activists has become increasingly hysterical. Naomi Klein, author of a new book on the “crisis,” This Changes Everything: Capitalism vs. the Climate, said, “I have seen the future, and it looks like New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.”

In her new book she demands that North America and Europe pay reparations to poorer countries to compensate for the climate change they cause. She calls her plan a “Marshall Plan for the Earth” and acknowledges that it would cost “hundreds of billions if not trillions of dollars.” But she has an easy solution on how to pay for it: “Need more money? Print some!” What’s a little hyperinflation compared to “saving the planet”?

Nor is Klein alone in her hysteria. Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is releasing a new film in which he warns that the world is threatened by a “carbon monster” that is treated like a kind of Godzilla that must be killed off by ending the use of carbon-based fuels.

One reason the rhetoric has become so overheated is that the climate-change activists increasingly lack a scientific basis for their most exaggerated claims.

When the commies can’t just confiscate money (Yet) they create a means of lies and deception to get it.

Problematic Questions:

1) Are planet earth's surface temperatures increasing?

2) Is man responsible for climate change?

3) How can we reverse the change?

If you answer "yes" to all, then let's get going!!

One thing that drives me crazy is the people who support the system of central banking and money printing and bailouts ... when you bring up your opposition to these things they say “well that’s capitalism for you!” .... a system they fully support except when they don’t.

there was a report on the radio, @ the top of the hour, last week, that Europe just experienced their hottest summer on record, but it was cooler than normal in America

Hee-hee! Check out the picture in post #4 to see how many of the protesters are wearing heavy winter coats with hoods up. Must be very cold in New York today. Could the temperature be below normal for this time of year?!

I’m waiting for them to “pivot” again to another crisis that requires the exact same “solutions” of

reduced lifestyle and liberty for Western Civilization.

I find these hottest ever claims dubious. I do not remember seeing one report of heat waves anywhere in the news this year. With heat waves being so, ummm, hot, any hint that a heat wave is active is screamed at volume 11 across the world and is cause by global warming. I do not remember seeing any reports of extreme heat anywhere in the northern hemisphere, much less Europe, so how can it have been the hottest evah?

Go to Wattsupwiththat.com to get the real backstory on these "news reports." Generally it turns out they have "adjusted" past temperatures downward to counter the fact that the earth's temperature has been stable for going on 18-20 years depending on how you count.

faulty Science—even a fool can see that the ice caps are not gone—Polar Bears har thriving. Its colder—seas are Not rising. If even one of the “predictions” had come true they might have a case—but their all wrong. They are Bankrupt. Time to go for Global Cooling—anything to ignore Global Terrorism and Global Poverty.
