Obama is defying the Constitution on war
Washington Post ^ | September 18, 2014 | By George F. Will

The United States last declared war many wars ago, on June 5, 1942, when, to clarify legal ambiguities during a world conflagration, it declared war on Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria. Today’s issue is not whether to declare war but only whether the president should even seek congressional authorization for the protracted use of force against the Islamic State.

Promising to “destroy” this group with the help of “a broad coalition” of “partners,” President Obama said last week, “I welcome congressional support for this effort.” He obviously thinks such support is optional, partly because this “effort,” conducted by U.S. combat aircraft, is something other than war. There he goes again.

Regarding war with the Islamic State, the Constitution requires what prudence strongly recommends — congressional authorization.

The constitution went out the day they swore this character into office. he is not eligible to occupy th office of president. And now the press is pushing Rubio and Jindal, two more ineligible candidates since their parents were not citizens when they, Rubio and Jindal, were born

“in that regard, he is behaving no differently from every president since FDR”

The federal government has disregarded the constitution for many years.

Yes. I did not mean to imply that FDR and his predecessors did NOT ignore parts of the Constitution. However, for the most part they did get declarations of war from congress before taking the United States to war.

My point was that NO president (not one) since FDR has even asked for a declaration of war from congress, never mind obtaining one, before taking our country to war - Mr. Obama is not unique in that respect.

As I said in another post, Obama’s Generals would do well to put this POTUS under house arrest for treason and willfully putting our military in handcuffs when facing the enemy...to appease Islam if for no other reason.

When Jefferson first took the U.S. to war in the Middle East - the First Barbary War - Congress had, prior to his inauguration, authorized a naval response to the Barbary pirate states, should they declare war on the U.S., which the Bey of Tripoli obliged them with after Jefferson took office.

U.S. presidents and Congress should use similar construction of language in legislation that acknowledges that Islamic jihad terrorists HAVE declared THEY are at war with us - thus, Congress need only require the POTUS to ask and obtain a vote that, with regard to any such group, that that group has opened the state of war with us, and the president can respond as Congress further provides the means for.

Obama is defying the Constitution on war

When he stood on the Capitol steps on January 20, 2009 and stumbled through the oath of office, as a foreign born illegal alien, pretending to be president, he defied The Constitution. Emboldened, he has been defying it every day since.

Obama’s been violating the Constitution for years, why is the Washington Post only pissy now?
