Ted Cruz: Hatred, Bigotry, Opposition to Israel Led to Me Leaving Event [Booed by "Christians"]
Breitbart ^ | 9/10/14 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 09/11/2014 2:20:20 AM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Reports surfaced Wednesday night that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was "booed off the stage" at an event hosted by a purportedly Christian organization.

Cruz, the keynote speaker at the new "In Defense Of Christians" organization's dinner in Washington DC, had offered the crowd--a number of whom were Christians from the Middle East, including Palestinian Christians--public support for Israel. After doing so, some members of the crowd booed at Cruz, and they persisted until he left the stage, noting their hatred and saying he can't stand with them if they don't stand with Israel.

I ran into one of these "Christians" a few years ago at a church...he was there to give a talk about the Middle East.

The whole thing turned out to be a speech denouncing Israel. This was the first time I had actually met someone espousing Christianity and a hatred for Israel--at least from someone who was from the Middle East.

I argued with him for a while after his "talk", but got nowhere.

Beware of people who claim to follow Jesus but then turn around and declare that the Jews are wicked and must be destroyed. They are not biblical.

A great “Sister Souljah” moment. Rand Paul would’ve been smart to do something similar, but I think, deep down, he probably agrees with the hecklers.

At first glance of thread title, "Ted Cruz: Hatred, Bigotry, Opposition to Israel Led to Me Leaving Event [Booed by "Christians"]" - couldn't help but expect either Ron or Rand Paul's identity somewhere in the story.

Sounds like they are possibly pseudo Christians. Jesus said not everyone who says to me Lord Lord will enter into the kingdom of God, and you will know them by their fruits. From the outside looking in, that nerd isn't showing good fruit.

From the IDC president on its site at http://www.indefenseofchristians.org/idc/statement-idc-president-following-disruption-idc-gala-dinner/

“As Cardinal Rai so eloquently put it to the attendees of the In Defense of Christians’ inaugural Summit gala dinner: ‘At every wedding, there are a few wedding crashers.’ In this case, a few politically motivated opportunists chose to divide a room that for more than 48 hours sought unity in opposing the shared threat of genocide, faced not only by our Christian brothers and sisters, but our Jewish brothers and sisters and people of other all other faiths and all people of good will.

“Tonight’s injection of politics when the focus should have been on unity and faith, momentarily played into the hands of a few who do not adhere to IDC’s principles. They were made no longer welcome.

“When we set out to form In Defense of Christians, many in the foreign policy and faith-based communities said such an effort was impossible. That it would be too difficult to bring such a diverse group of Christian sects, religious and human rights organizations together to draw attention not only to the plight of the deteriorating situation facing our Christians brothers and sisters, but also to the plight of all people of faith, in the Middle East who are suffering...

The human rights’ organizations are prone to despise Israel; some of their members would be on my suspect list.

Tip to Cruz: These are the same kind of people that Nelson Mandela was, including his supporters around the world.

You need to ask these turkeys how many Christians have been raped, beheaded, or shot into trenches by Jews.

Answer of course is ZERO!

It’s the BLOODY MOSLEMS who are killing and raping the Christians!

Some people just don’t GET IT!

Preach it, brother.

Among other pages, you must tear the entire chapter of Romans 11 completely out of your Bible to hold such false beliefs while claiming to be a disciple of Christ.

Arab Christians are, sadly, still Arabs...one would have thought after them being slaughtered and all (by Muslims) that they would have developed some sense of humanity with their fellow Jews...

The more I hear about Ted Cruz, the more I really, really like the guy. Heck, I LOVE him! God bless this man!

I belatedly apologize for confusing Cruz with someone else [some time ago]. My fuzzy memory garbles names sometimes.

Middle East Christians have been force-fed high doses of slander about Jews. Not their fault, but still, they needed this smack.

I grew up in Detroit with Arab Christians from Iraq (Chaldeans). They were, for the most part pretty “normal” (70% Antisemitic). I had an Arab friend as a locker partner in high school. We were “buddies” from the First Grade but when the 1973 Yom Kippur War broke out (Oct. ‘73) he ended the friendship. As a Jew, I was in shock, but I shouldn't have been...

I really like Senator Cruz, but is it possible that he was tone-deaf on this one occasion? Too bad he didn’t begin by talking about the Christians of the Middle East who are in fact being driven out after 2,000 years. It is not clear why he would begin by talking about Israel, when the subject at hand is Islamic massacres of Christians and Yazidis and “heretical” Muslims several hundred miles to the east. In other words, everything he says makes sense, but why not talk a little about the reason for the conference (unless of course he was going to eventually) and then broach the subject of how everything over there is interconnected? A transcript would help.

Its pretty common in the mideast. Bridget Gabriel says she grew up hating the Jews because its all she knew.

I think they can be converted on the Jew issue but it takes time and Jews willing to do it.

No it isn’t possible he was tone deaf on the occasion.

Cruz gave the following statement to Breitbart after the event and outlined what he did before the booing started:

“When I spoke in strong support of Israel and the Jewish people, who are being persecuted and murdered by the same vicious terrorists who are also slaughtering Christians, many Christians in the audience applauded. But, sadly, a vocal and angry minority of attendees at the conference tried to shout down my expression of solidarity with Israel.”

He fully understood the event was about terrorists who are slaughtering Christians AND he added his strong support of Israel and Jews because they’re being persecuted and murdered by the same terrorists.

Some in the audience (not even a majority) began to boo and shout him down at that point and would not shut up so he could actually finish speaking.
