Michael Brown’s family aching one month later
MSNBC ^ | September 10, 2014 | Trymaine Lee

FERGUSON, Missouri— It has been a month and a day since Michael Brown was shot and killed, his body left for hours in the street like strange, fallen fruit for his loved ones and neighbors to wail over.

Protests, riots and violent clashes with the police have slowly cooled in the St. Louis suburb, but Brown’s family continues to languish under the weight of an uncertain investigation and the burden of mourning the death of their 18-year-old son – both privately and publicly.

“Each day it seems to get worse for them,” Anthony Gray, a family attorney, told msnbc. “Because each day or each event or turn of events it just seems to just take the dagger and drive it even deeper in the heart of this mother and the father.”

At least a half-dozen witnesses have come forward and given the media and local and federal investigators accounts of what they saw the Saturday afternoon in which a Ferguson police officer fired nearly a dozen rounds at Brown.

One was just feet away. Others were pulling into driveways, standing outside of their apartments or working nearby.

Each has given a similar account of the shooting, saying that there was a struggle at the officer’s car, then gunshots trailing Brown as he attempted to run away. At some point, nearly all of them say, Brown turned with his hands up in surrender. The officer kept firing, they say.

A Grand Jury is currently hearing evidence in the case and mulling whether or not the police officer, six-year veteran Darren Wilson, should be indicted in the killing....

Sounds like they're (in conjunction with General Holder) constructing the narrative for the possible trial and wrongful death lawsuit. BTW, "strange fruit" is a reference to the blacks that were lynched during Reconstruction and Jim Crow, which ended how many years ago? Six is nearly a dozen? What sort of math do they learn these days?

The innocent people that were hurt in the riots and possibly the store owner that was strong armed by their thug son are still aching.

If they had moved the body then they would say the cops were trying to mess up the evidence. Why don't they just shut up and loot something.

his body left for hours in the street like strange, fallen fruit...

They're referring to the Billie Holliday song "Strange Fruit", which is about lynching in the South. They're attempting to plant a meme here.

Have they gotten their money yet? Where is their money? They deserve some money! GIVE THEM SOME MONEY!

MSNBC is losing its touch. Let me fix the first line:

It has been a month and a day since the young black, unarmed teenager Michael Brown was shot and killed by a white police officer, his body left for hours in the street like strange, fallen fruit for his loved ones and neighbors to wail over.

But the reference to lynching in the use of "fallen fruit" is a clever new touch. (See the song "Strange Fruit.")

For sure they are grieving, that`s normal, in fact it starts to get worse as it sinks in that you have lost a loved one...nothing unusual about that

Mind you I wonder if all the Al Sharpton`s and the demonstrations etc have made it more difficult to start the normal grieving process?

I wonder if at any point have they yet had the courage to say to one another...Darn it, if only he had not robbed the liquor store, smoked the pot etc and taken his attitude to the streets, he might still be alive.

Or is there anything we as parents could have done differently...I suspect they are in denial? certainly are not going to say that publicly anyway.

...then gunshots trailing Brown as he attempted to run away...

How many gunshots did he take to his back?

Are we going to have a story like this on the 9th of the month, every month, for a year?

No, no, that’s all a lie, according to the civil rights industry and media.

They should go jack up some store clerks. It’ll make them feel better.
