Poland sees sharply lower gas supplies from Russia

Poland said on Wednesday the volume of gas it has received so far this week from Russian gas monopoly Gazprom was down by at least 20 percent.

Some European countries believe Moscow may use a disruption of gas to Europe as a trump card in its confrontation with the West over Ukraine. The row has already dragged ties between Moscow and the West down to their worst since the Cold War.

Ukraine's gas transport monopoly Ukrtransgaz was quoted by a Russian news agency as saying Gazprom was limiting flows to Poland to disrupt supplies of gas in the opposite direction, from Poland into Ukraine.

Kiev is already cut off from Russian gas in a pricing dispute and depends on these "reverse flows" to supply homes and businesses with gas.

Russia following through on its threat to cut supplies to countries reselling its gas to Ukraine, until Ukraine pays for the gas it already owes for.

No, really?

Who could have seen this coming back in the Spring when the upcoming weather was warm?

No one should be surprised. Young people who don’t know about it should read up on how the Russians starved the Ukrainians. The hate and cruelty Russians will inflict on peaceful neighbors is not new and certainly not something they’re willing to admit or to stop.

If you look into it you'll find that they're reducing NG supplies by the amount any given country has been reselling to Ukraine plus the amount they typically build their stockpiles with. The goal is for Ukraine to either pay up what they owe and start paying for their NG or do without Russian NG instead of having their NG supplied by other countries purchasing more and then sending it to Ukraine.

Countries that build up stockpiles and sell them off to others aren't going to make the extra money they've been making by rerouting NG to Ukraine and others, that's the real end result.

Putin’s fans are equal cruel, crass, and vile. That they claim to be in some weird way conservative is inexplicable; they’re using conservatism to spread Russian chauvinism. Their conservatism is totally ersatz.

So why didn't Ukraine pay its gas bills? Could it be because they've been using the money the west gave them to wage war against their own citizens? Why should Kiev get Russian gas when they won't grant autonomy to the east?

I'm baffled by Europe's actions. If Turkey goes weird, Russia is all there is between Europe and those darn Turks. Europe's all tied up because Turkey is in NATO.

Anyone thinking that Ukraine has surplus money to buy Natural Gas at a price above what Europe pays is wishful thinking. They couldn't meet the bills when the gas was sold at a significant discount.

If only the Russians held something the Ukrainians want (back). The two could come to some sort of an agreement. /s

Several countries have been sending them NG as a reverse flow based on the Ukraine promise to pay for the gas as the IMF funds come in. Whether they'll pay or keep running up the bill remains to be seen.

The IMF could force them to pay for the gas as a condition for their receiving the next installment of cash but whether the IMF will do so also remains to be seen. Those shipping them NG believe the IMF will make sure they get paid so who knows.

Russia needs to pay for the theft of Crimea, and the damage it has caused in E. Ukraine.

Russia owes a lot.

Yes. I am well aware. It pervades American Thinkers boards and I even find it sometimes here.

On FR I ignore it, on my American Thinker persona you can see me calling them out and taking on any Russian sympathizer daily.

I am fairly well educated in all things Russia and have even spent brief time living there.

I despise them as a nation and culture and I have their number.

Those filthy Russian Capitalist pigs, expecting to be paid for their product. They should be donating it free to the concerned National Socialists for distribution (at a slight charge) to the Gay friendly NGO's who will get it to the debt slave class as long as they comply with environmental regulations and pay their union dues.

Know will be more expensive and infrastructure is not in place but isn’t russia cutting off their nose regarding income from gas? Free Market to take up slack? As am suggesting will be more expensive but people do want to stay warm so will not the markets of Poland, Ukraine, Europe prepare to keep their people warm this winter or is the whole planet broke and no nation truly has any money? All these nations need is to go to work (is my opinion) and the bear called russia can be told to eat their gas. Is this not possible for the coming winter?

Ironic isn't it. Russia turning capitalist and the EU and US turning socialist.

I hate to see Poland paying the price for Ukraine's stupidity though.

This is odd.

Russian gas producer Gazprom says Poland is receiving the same amount of gas that it had received in recent days, in response to charges from Warsaw that deliveries had fallen off 20 percent - @Reuters

No problem, the EU crony capitalists will gladly accept land, mineral/resources rights, acceptance of "environmental" climate change regulations, and all other economic regulations in lieu of the "surplus money".

Looks like they are one step ahead of that.

After more than a decade of negotiations, China and Russia have agreed to a natural gas deal worth about $400 billion that represents a major step not only in global energy markets but also in geopolitics...

I have a soft spot for Poles, polka, and the beautiful women Poland makes, but this is entirely voluntary on their part, they could tell Obama and the Neo Nazi HomoFacists to go [censored] themselves.
