Macomb Community College’s Renewable Energy Program

We would like to take this time to announce the many programs that Macomb Community College has to offer! The idea of providing energy sources outside of electricity, and in the theme of a doomsday, emergency scenario, the many programs, areas of study, and implementation of new technologies at MCC are worth exploring!

First and foremost, the Renewable Energy Certificate program and courses available through Macomb Community College are instrumental in building the foundation for a career in the field of Renewable Energy. Within the scope of preparing for natural disasters or widespread electrical failures, renewable and alternative energies are very important in establishing shelter and harnessing a life post-disaster.

Evolving energy needs on a global scale require a fresh, creative group of educators and professionals to prepare for the challenges of a new age of technology. Renewable energy, coupled with alternative energy and fuel sources, are the core elements of sustaining energy for future generations, and with such concepts as solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass, the demand has never been greater.

Macomb Community College offer distinct programs to fill these workforce demands with a level of options in combining the MCC Renewable Energy Certificate with six Associate’s Degree Programs: Automated Systems Mechatronics (Wind Energy), Maintenance Technology (Solar Energy), Automotive Technology (Biomass Energy/Alternative Fuels), Climate Control Technology (Geothermal Energy), Construction Technology/Building Construction (Green Building/Sustainable Design), and entrepreneurship and Small Business (relating to Renewable Energy).

While the Renewable Energy program highlights these six complementary degree programs, the Certification can actually align with most other programs at MCC. The program serves much like a traditional minor and can complement nearly all of the 200+ degree program offered at Macomb Community College.

The MCC Renewable Energy program is available in a variety of formats: on-campus, online and hybrid (both on-campus and online learning). The option for online classes may be of interest to students who live far from our campus, as well as convenient scheduling for out-of-town students with the desire for a hands-on lab component. Lab courses can be scheduled over a weekend so that interested students can complete the lab courses (if selected) in one short weekend. In-town students have the option to take the lab courses over an 8-week semester.

Ultimately, if you’re interested in learning more about how you can join the Renewable and Alternative Energy industry, contact the Macomb Community College Renewable Energy Program Advisor Lisa Richter at (586) 445-7191 or email at richterl@macomb.edu.

And this is why people should spend their hard-earned money on “education” (first paragraph)?

Jackson community college is the same way.

They all want to be 4 year universities in a state that already has too many.

Yes that’s true. However the program(s) are what they are and for the ‘reason’ stated.

Another winter like the last one in Michigan and residents will be buying more firewood than figuring out ways to save the planet from Climate Change.

“Evolving energy needs on a global scale require a fresh, creative group of educators and professionals....”

In other words, eco-brainwashed.

It’s a growing government entitlement program.

My neighbor decided to move to his retirement home a few miles away before winter. Says he doesn’t want to cut wood for two places or pay for gas for both.

Merely feigning belief in the so-called science of Climate Change, Global Warming, etc. will not be enough to get you through even if the quality of your work is far above average, so the term “eco-brainwashed” is not at all extreme or far-fetched.

Congress could solve this BS real quick with a simple restriction on the EPA.

No currently operational electrical generating facility may be shut down for environmental reasons unless a Megawatt equivalent facility is online first.
