Note well the concern is about the optics and not the act itself. Sort of like going to bed while a certain embassy siege was underway. He controlled the optics on that one.

I understand when a president takes a “vacation” it’s a working vacation. He never truly gets away without having to tend to things. I design electrical systems for various pleasure boat builders. I take 2 two week vacations per year and guess what, even I end up working through them. Even I, never truly get away. Even working through those two weeks, I still get clobbered when I return. It’s tough, So, the question I have is, if I struggle with it with my work how does this president do it? Oh, I could just shut down and be totally negligent and let everything fall behind. Perhaps I just answered my own question?
