The NSA can record every call in the world, and yet they still can’t figure out who “Rachel” is.
I can vouch for that. I used to program my phone to block a telemarketer's phone number, but then they'd call me via a slightly different number. That's why I now have my phone block all incoming calls except those from numbers on my contacts list. If a new friend wants to reach me, all I have to do is add him or her to my list.
Pre-nobama admin, it worked much better, hardly ever got any “illegal” calls.
Either the scammers know the current gubmit dumbasses are not going to enforce anything beside REPARATIONS or the no call list folks are taking payoffs. What the heck the lower down ones see the top raking in the dough, why shouldn’t they get while the gettins good?
The companies lease several hundred to a thousand lines and change cities {which they also likely spoof} often. You'll get a caller ID number like 555-123-1111. They may call back in an hour on 555-123-9232.
The FCC knows who they are and refuses to act so does the major carriers and they one or all could if they so desired shut this all down in a matter of hours. Someone it seems has a lot of clout to be so protected. It would be real interesting to know if a politicians family or huge donor owns the companies.
Solution is simple and doable. Have unsolicited telemarketers/poll takers for any reason or cause use a specified three digit prefix such as 556-599. Assign them a prefix and allow all consumers to block their calls. There should be published a list of such companies and contact info. I'm sick and tired of paying AT&T premium prices for privacy services that the phone company tells these idiots how to work around.
Well yes I have caller ID but I mean they have the right to call you (and you have the right to not answer)
