In a state like Virginia, does anyone think they will be found innocent. This can be used to slime Republicans for the midterm elections.

seems like in their zeal to be ‘first with the worst’ they neglected to mention just exactly what that verdict was

Who knows? Virginia is not the state it once was. I mean, for heaven’s sake, Terry McAuliffe is governor!

I don’t think that was neglect. The announcement that there is a verdict comes before the announcement of the actual verdict, as a call for everyone to return to the courtroom.

Most news outlets have put up stories like this. I just happened to choose this one. I suppose the media was alerted as were the defendants so they can assemble at the court room. The media does a lot of crappy stuff - I’m not sure this situation is part of the crap. JMHO.

I don’t know. I think both sides drew some blood but I have no impression of which side presented the best case.

its’ just jerking us around. they want us to drop whatever we’re doing and remain glued to the radio/tv whilst they bombard us with commercials and talking heads telling us what to think. if we’re lucky it’ll only take them a half hour to get to the point.

remember OJ? they played this game for an hour and a half.

sorry to sound so curmudgery, just tell me the verdict and skip the theater

Jonnie Williams got pretty much nothing in return for all his gifts. McDonnell didn’t give him any unfair privileges. I’m thinking not guilty or something light. But you never know juries anymore.

While I’m not sure what he and his wife did is technically a crime, it sure was stupid, and there are many days when I wish people could be locked up just for that.

The jury would have to reach unanimity to convict. I have yet to see how the government made its case that Johnny Williams benefited from the gifts.

Neither the people of Virginia, or a jury of their peers will fall for a partisan Justice Department witch hunt, relying on idioms and clichés made out of whole cloth and will at the end of the day find the governor and his wife innocent of a conspiracy so eminence.

I expect they will announce the verdict as soon as everyone is in the court room. From what I’m gathering from the radio reports, the McDonnell’s aren’t there yet.

They’re saying the verdict should be announced in the next 5 or 10 minutes.

McDonnell was naive and blind, but never gave Williams anything. He’s truly a good man and I believe innocent.

Maureen is an immature, self-centered woman who was out for herself doing a lot of stuff behind her husband’s back. Messed up big, she is, she did. For all her stupidity, she succeeded in getting her sad life displayed before the world. My wife nailed her when this first came up.

Williams is the real crook who got off scott-free for turning witness for libs that have been out to get any top VA Repub.

Expect an innocent verdict. Yes, McDonnell’s were stupid. Not a crime.
