Mary Landrieu Senate portrait Landrieu's Had D.C. Residences Since 1997

Democratic senator Mary Landrieu of Louisiana is already in the electoral battle of her life this November. Her national party is far out of step with Louisiana voters on health care, abortion, and energy issues, and the national mood is continuing to shift against the Democrats. And the leader of that party, President Obama, is deeply unpopular in the Bayou State. Mary Landrieu Senate portrait

The best card Landrieu had was one she was first dealt: her last name and its legacy in Louisiana. Her father, Moon Landrieu, was a celebrated mayor of New Orleans, while her brother Mitch was Louisiana's lieutenant governor and now serves as the mayor of the Crescent City. Mary Landrieu may be a Democrat, the argument goes, but she is a Louisiana and New Orleans Democrat, like her brother and her father.

A Vast Majority of Senators are Senators for D.C. Only and not their supposed home states....

They only go to their “home” states like a ritualist Haj to Mecca to appease the people who sent them there every so many years...

Many members of the congress own houses in the DC area. I would if I were in office there. Makes financial sense. Not everyone can stay at the four seasons.

It’s when they don’t maintain a residence in their district or state and stop coming home on recesses other than to fundraise that there is a problem.

One wonders, if when L’Andrew travels “home” if she expenses hotels for her use or if she sleeps in her old bedroom at Mom’s house. I’d expect her expense report is public.

Another reason to move them home and let them conduct “business” via Internet.

Landrieu doesn’t like to come home because she know Louisianaians know what she really is and that is a lockstep progressive obama follower. We warned her about voting for Obamacare and she rubbed our noses in it and arrogantly said she would vote for it again. This was the final straw. IMHO the only people who will vote for her are new orleans uptown snobs and college students and the black population in NOLA. We are trying desperately to rid ourselves of this privileged, self serving, egotistical, career politician and have come close. This time I hope it is the death knoll for Mary Landrieu. But all those dead people keep voting for her - several times!

You said it. I really wish she know how disliked she really is across Louisiana. These days all those politicians are shielded from the negatives. But, I REALLY want her to know she is not welcome here!!!!

with all due respect, let me suggest that these folks don’t need to be in Washington more than six months each year to begin with.

In Texas, the legislature meets for a six month period every other year. Yes the governor can call special sessions and does from time to time. But, the most fundamental problem there is (federally) is that federal legislators are in Washington too much practicing political incest with lobbyists and each other.

Cut their pay and their time and their staff in half! Then they can stay home some where they belong.

We had a lefty House member from my state many years ago. When he was finally defeated, he never came back to the state. He stayed in Washington.

It seems clear she doesn’t reside there, but has nothing to do with he DC residence.

In LA a state legislator just got convicted in court for election fraud because he didn’t have a residence in Los Angeles. The same laws should apply on the national level.

They need to be in a glass office right in the middle of their district. It's easy to ignore thousands of e-mails and even letters, but a couple hundred constituents outside the window with torches and pitchforks are hard to ignore.

If they miss the party circuit, let them meet their EMPLOYERS in church basements and community centers. They seem to be very forgetful when they get to the District of Corruption.
