I can’t disagree with anything you say in this post.

It seems probably the grandparents were “liberal” in their POV, since otherwise it’s unlikely, at the time, that Gramps would have been close friends with any black man, much less a commie black man.

However, there seems to be a dearth of evidence as to the grandparents political activities, which, given the last few years of people searching for it, probably indicates that they weren’t very politically active at all.

Mom was obviously leftist, but that’s pretty different from being an “avowed Communist.” Given her her marital and employment history, she seems to have been more of a multiculturalist and ethnomasochist than Communist as such. Very common in her time and group.

There were (and are) lots and lots of Red Diaper Babies out there, some of whom later became leaders in the fight against Communism. But Stanley Ann does not seem to be among them.

“The question begs, where is the Counter List to restore Liberty ans strengthen us? “

I’d suggest that the Declaration of Independence is a good counter-list to the communist goals. Yes?

We can move from there onto Thomas Paine’s “Common Sense” pamphlet.

Are you stuck in Plato’s cave?

“I’ve never seen any, but I won’t claim it can’t exist.”

This has been a very weird thread for me.

Someone says, “X is Y.”

I reply, that’s interesting. I didn’t know that. Do you have evidence that it’s true?

And then I get accused of defending X, or of saying that X is NOT Y. Which is not what I said at all.

Then links are posted about how X used to be friends with someone who was Y, or (weirdest of all) X went to high school in a school district where the chairman of the school board used to be Y, but had repented. What possible relevance does that have to whether X was Y?

If I smell smoke and see flames, I reach for the fire extinguisher. I don’t put my face in the flames looking for proof.

What can I say, FRiend?

Go to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. Watch the crabs try to climb out of the bucket. Maybe you can discover Shunryu Suzuki’s enlightenment. Good luck.
