“This will result in many Putin-gasms by the growing number of Putin lovers on this forum.”

A likely outcome Russia uses their S-400 system, paints one of our top-line fighters, shoots it down with ease, gives us back the pilot, and we get the message to not mess around in their backyard as thing have now reversed, given that we’ve been DISARMING for 20 years, while they have been MODERNIZING (with Western help) for the past decade.

Hopefully that puts an end to the Obama supporters that think we can actually go toe-to-toe against their 2014 military, especially in their backyard.

Novorossiya or “New Russia” is the term Putin used to describe Ukraine the other day. He also said former Soviet satellites were all fake countries and were all really part of Russia.

He is a delusional mad man

Putin doesn't want a war

Russia just invaded yet another country, probably has lost hundreds of soldiers while mothers who complain are called "foreign agents" (which is a threat). Tsar Putin is going to be eyeing other "fake countries" he thinks are really part of Russia after this.

Nobody has asked to send US troops to Ukraine, not even Ukraine.

We should have been sending them weapons for months now.

You sick Putin groupies think slick twisting Merkel comments to peddle your KGB tyrants....

From Reuters: Chancellor Angela Merkel said, however, that Sigmar Gabriel meant decentralisation (as opposed to federalization or breakup).

Unlike the handful of perennial warmongers here and the people they have duped into believing that losing Ukraine is the end of the world, the Germans know that going to war with Russia over Ukraine is completely stupid. Luckily sanity will prevail.

Hopefully France is next. That would take care of the Islamic threat for a while.

"You think America is ready to send our young men and women into a meat grinder? Over east Ukraine? "

The American People, and no POTUS in history would do such a thing, FR existential warriors not withstanding.

Did we do anything when they invaded Hungary and Czechoslovakia?

“Nobody has asked to send US troops to Ukraine, not even Ukraine. We should have been sending them weapons for months now.”

So you think they can just read the instruction manuals and use our weapons effectively against Russia. Obviously not...so what now?

...and do you think we’d send our best weapons there, just to have the Russians overrun and capture those weapons in a matter of days?

It’s not so easy to fight a superpower in its backyard (directly or by proxy), and usually not wise.

"The American People, and no POTUS in history would do such a thing, FR existential warriors not withstanding."

Beware those who are for American interests are called something like Putin lovers. Presidents have been in war despite of the interests of the American people. I think it is why we have a volunteer army and no draft. The executive can use the volunteer army as his private war instrument. Note how a WWII formal declaration of war by Congress is avoided. The country is not united unless there is such a declaration by Congress. Note the fate of our wars since WW II. Anyway, Presidents get into war even if the citizens oppose. And citizens oppose our war in Ukraine, Formosa, Africa or anywhere else in the NE or ME.

We’ve seen this movie before.

Step 1. Demand autonomy for Germans in the Sudetenland.

Step 2. Demand the Sudetenland return to the Reich.

Step 3. Demand the rest of Czechoslovakia become the “Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia.”

I also find it VERY INTERESTING that NO ONE screaming for war with Russia has suggested beefing up our military spending - not McCain, not the people on THIS SITE, NO ONE. Even Jimmy Carter knew enough by 1979 that our military was in NO CONDITION to fight the Soviets, and rather than start a war, he started what would be later called the Reagan Military Build-Up.

It seems that the people today almost want to start a war with Russia over Ukraine, just to get our butts whipped.

...and have trouble seeing how that helps us, in any way.

...so

YESTERDAY, Ukraine Calls For Emergency UN Meeting After Russia Reportedly Invades

Putin said he is not a person whose word is to be trusted. Kazakhs did not have a statehood;
Russia flew over Finland airspace.. next?

Putin is not to be admired. Putin is not person whose word is to be trusted.

Poland, Romania and Bulgaria are in NATO and they should have some Soviet weapons. There is a NATO summit in Wales next week and maybe something will be worked out where Ukrainians will get weapons they are familiar with from these countries and Poland, Romania and Bulgaria will get some modern weapons.

"Did we do anything when they invaded Hungary and Czechoslovakia?"

Wed flapped our jaw and built more weapons.

That's the precisely correct response now, too.

Trading sanctions were already in place.

Putin also has no appetite for a war with the West. It would be a mess, but he would lose. The Russians are playing poker with a wimp.
Don’t think for a minute he wants his country ripped up any more than we want ours torn up. At some point in this there will be an eye ball to eye ball stare down. It may not be the Ukraine, but somewhere along the line of separation between the East and the West he is going to overstep.
The thug isn’t going to be satisfied enslaving part of the Ukraine.
