Ted Cruz Invites Obama to Border, Calls for Bombing ISIS ‘Back to the Stone Age’
ABC News ^ | 08/30/2014 | Chris Good

Sen. Ted Cruz today invited President Obama to accompany him to a golf course on the Texas-Mexico border, telling conservatives at an Americans for Prosperity summit in Dallas he thought that was “the only way there is a chance in heaven that he might come” to the region.

The Texas Republican and potential 2016 presidential contender also heavily criticized the president’s foreign policies and suggested that the U.S. should bomb ISIS “back to the stone age.”

“Tonight I am officially extending an invitation for Barack Obama to come join me at the border in Texas,” Cruz said. “I figured the only way there is a chance in heaven that he might come: I am inviting him to a golf course.”

Cruz told the audience that he is inviting Obama to join him at Lajitas Golf Resort in Big Bend, where, on “the 11th hole, the pin is on the other side of the Rio Grande, so you can only go for a hole in one.”

Cruz devoted much of his speech to lambasting Democratic immigration reforms and warned that it would be “utterly lawless” for Obama to offer “amnesty” without the consent of Congress. Obama is expected to take executive action on immigration sometime this fall, but it has remained unclear when or how aggressively the president would seek to change U.S. policy.

ISIS is already in the Stone Age.

Bombing never won a war.

Rand Paul's immigration speech
...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let's start that conversation by acknowledging we aren't going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Rand Paul calls on conservatives to embrace immigration reform
Latinos, should be a natural constituency for the party, Paul argued, but "Republicans have pushed them away with harsh rhetoric over immigration." ...he would create a bipartisan panel to determine how many visas should be granted for workers already in the United States and those who might follow... [and the buried lead] "Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers...

Rand Paul: Time for GOP to soften war stance
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

Rand Paul On Shutdown: "Even Though It Appeared I Was Participating In It, It Was A Dumb Idea"
I said throughout the whole battle that shutting down the government was a dumb idea. Even though it did appear as if I was participating in it, I said it was a dumb idea. And the reason I voted for it, though, is that it's a conundrum. Here's the conundrum. We have a $17 trillion debt and people at home tell me you can't give the president a blank check. We just can't keep raising the debt ceiling without conditions. So unconditionally raising the debt ceiling, nobody at home wants me to vote for that and I can't vote for that. But the conundrum is if I don't we do approach these deadlines. So there is an impasse. In 2011, though, we had this impasse and the president did negotiate. We got the sequester. If we were to extend the sequester from discretionary spending to all the entitlements we would actually fix our problem within a few years.

Rand Slams Congress for Funding Egypt's Generals: 'How Does Your Conscience Feel Now?'
Sen. Rand Paul is hammering his fellow senators for keeping billions in financial aid flowing to Egypt's military -- even as Cairo's security forces massacre anti-government activists. [by "anti-government activists" is meant church-burning Christian-murdering jihadists]

I seem to remember a couple of bombs at the end of WW2 winning a war. The problem with the Uncle Sam of today is that its overehelming scientific and military advantage is nullified by hand wringing by the media as soon as stiff oposition is encountered, which leeds to fighting asymetrical warfare orientated opponents with both hands tied. Gulf war 1 showed the way U.S needs to take on Isis. Massive force and very quick. Forget nation building.

I had the same reaction as you to SeekandFind's comment. I said to myself, "Why does there always have to be something wrong when people [like Cruz] who are fighting for us speak out boldly?" There is always someone ready with a "yeah, but..."

It is no surprise the Left keeps moving the ball down the field when those of us on the Right are always forming a circular firing squad.

Oh well, at least no one on this thread [yet] has blasted Cruz for being a liberal member of the GOPe.

How can we bomb Islam back to the stone ages when that is essentially where they are now?

...Calls for Bombing ISIS ‘Back to the Stone Age’...just what my wife's GP told her during a conversation while she was getting her last checkup - not the kind of comment I'd usually expect from a medical professional....

Yes, I remember that, too.

Japan surrendered after two nukes. And also after the deaths of >2 million soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines. And also after the sinking of almost the entire IJN. And also after the burning of Tokyo, Nagoya, Yokohama, Osaka, and Kobe.

Bombing areas of Iraq and Syria controlled by ISIS cannot achieve the scale of military defeat inflicted on Japan by August 5, 1945.

Seems like Cruz has an inborn grasp of “political strategy” that others (Mitt, Juan) can only dream about.

> I’m serious, and this is not necessarily against you, SeekAndFind ... I am INCREDIBLY tired of reading Ted Cruz threads where Ted did or said something really fine, and having FReepers — of all people! — whine that, “Yeah, but he didn’t do THIS!” or “He didn’t do THAT!” Can we stop these ridiculous knee-jerk reactions and get behind SOMEONE in power who obviously lives a political life in a way Ronald Reagan would heartily approve, and who has PROVEN HIMSELF one of the two or three U.S. Senators unafraid to actually TAKE ON this incredibly corrupt Administration. Sorry for the rant, but we need to STOP criticizing our friends and start supporting them. The hour is getting LATE!

I’m with you on this. I’m just thankful for what he does which is a helluva a lot more than most of them to which is serving their own self-interests. Thank God, Rafael Cruz taught Ted about politics at the dinner table growing up!

Ted Cruz Calls for Bombing ISIS ‘Back to the Stone Age’

So that's about half a bomb worth, right? They're not that far out of the Stone Age to begin with, culturally.

Just so hard to not drool on the keyboard at the idea that we could have this man as POTUS.
