The obvious path to real black economic empowerment is a cultural emphasis on education, committement to family, being law-abiding, accepting personal responsibility, and having a strong work ethic.

Other groups came here with money from back home? This is delusional. People came here with nothing, not even speaking English, and built up a life here through hard work.

And so did free black people, who worked hard and built up good lives.

My great grandfather arrived in 1902 with less than $20 in his pocket. He worked the coal mines, laid bricks and cobble stones, dug wells and saved until he could bring his wife and daughter over from Sweden in 1905.
We he died in the mid 1950s, he had a paid for house and small acreage.

Economic empowerment=pay attention in school,don't use drugs,don't use alcohol to excess (if at all),don't commit crimes,don't have kids before you can afford them,be prepared to work long,hard hours (particularly early in your life),don't spend $$$ on stupid stuff (e.g.,$250 sneakers)
