MOSCOW (Reuters) - More than 100 Russian soldiers were killed in eastern Ukraine in a battle this month while helping pro-Russian separatists fight Ukrainian troops, two members of the Russian presidential human rights council said on Thursday, citing accounts of eye-witness and relatives of the dead.

Ella Polyakova and Sergei Krivenko, both members of the council, said around 300 people were also injured in the violence on Aug. 13 near the town of Snizhnye in Donetsk Province, when a column of trucks full of ammunition they were driving was hit by a sustained volley of Grad missiles.

"A column of Russian soldiers was attacked by Grad rockets and more 100 people died. It all happened in the city of Snizhnye in Donetsk Province," said Krivenko speaking by telephone. Polyakova said she had also been given the same figure, of more than 100, for the number of Russian soldiers killed in the attack.

They simply were tourists on the way to Crimea. Took a wrong turn.

I keep reading stories of Russian casualties but never hear about Ukrainian casualties. I doubt the Ukrainian army is that good.

Russia also denies that it’s the sun up there. It’s a Russian mega zombie light that they can turn off when ever they want which is usually in the evening so people can sleep.

A Russian Mothers of Soldiers organization says there could be 15,000 Russian soldiers in Ukraine (or are part of their support system I guess)

Such a bizarre situation filled with overstatements, exaggerations, false claims, lies, etc... And so little credible evidence.

Did Churchill have to gild the lily like this to try to get us involved in WWII? Maybe he did.

The only things that seem certain are that:

1. Putin wants a bit of southeast Ukraine, as a buffer and land bridge to Crimea.

2. He will eventually get it.

3. The West is incapable of stopping him.

It seems that anything happening on the eastern border further to the north is just a feint, a diversion or a token resistance.

The United States, the Ukraine, the areas around Syria Iraq and that region are all being occupied.

What could go wrong?

Obama’s snooze alarm is set on defeat. Don’t wake him until it’s total.

Of course not.

Any resolution would be vetoed by Russia.

“They have lost +750 KIAs so far.”

In Saturday’s presser, the Rebel Commander said that UK casualties are 12,000+ dead, 19,000 wounded, and around 4,000 missing, most of which are “most assuredly dead”, in his words.

Everyone knows that Kiev has been massively under-reporting casualties for months, to save moral, but that fantasy is falling apart now.

The truth lies somewhere in the middle, I’m sure, which is still far more than Kiev has admitted.
