An Israeli officer in the Golan Heights was moderately injured by apparent stray fire from fighting in Syria Wednesday morning, as an al-Qaeda linked rebel group took control of the only crossing between Israel and Syria.

At least six mortars fired from Syria landed in the Golan Heights over the course of the day as rebels and forces loyal to Syrian President Bashar Assad fought for control of the Quneitra crossing, near Israel’s northeastern border.

The IDF said it had not completely determined whether the mortars were fired into Israel intentionally or were a spillover from fighting between rival factions on the Syrian side of the border.

The mortars also caused damage to a car, according to Israeli news source Ynet.

In response to the spillover, Israeli forces hit two Syrian army positions, the IDF said.

Syrian rebels, including the al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Nusra Front, seized control of the Syrian crossing with the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights on Wednesday, a monitoring group said.

Why would they want to help AL Qaeda?

Just telling them to back off or get out of their bubble? What if the Syrian army was driving the rebels towards Israel?

actually there is a no-man’s land called the Purple Zone between Israel and Syria that is patrolled by the UN.
The gate referred to would be on the Syrian side of the Purple Zone. At Quneitra the zone is not very wide since the
site of the town was returned to Syrian control after the Yom Kippur war, so its quite possible that an exposed person would be hit by gunfire from Syria (stray or otherwise)..

Israel should support the Syrian troops against the Jihadists because Al Nusra is anti-Israel just like ISIS. The Syrians know better than to really tick off the Israelis.

This kind of action would confuse the hell out of all of them. I like that.

Would somebody please analyze and identify ISIS’ TACTICAL MANEUVERS in overcoming bases, checkpoints, cities, etc?

The CIC is working on it...however, between fundraisers, golf and vacations there isn't a lot of time left over for him to actually do his job.

Sleep tight.
