Chris Matthews Plots Strategy With Dems on How to Use Ferguson Unrest for Midterms

It's not surprising that MSNBC's Chris Matthews would frame the racial unrest in Ferguson through a political lens. The liberal host on Monday brought on two prominent Democrats to plot strategy on how the fallout from the Michael Brown shooting could be appropriated. After pointing out that the teen's death "might have political implications this coming November," he wondered, "...Could anger over the Brown case motivate more African-American voters to turn up this November?"

To discuss this, Matthews, a former Democratic operative, brought on Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings and Democratic pollster Margie Omero. It wasn't hard to figure who he hoping the shooting could benefit. Highlighting past examples, the MSNBC anchor asserted, "So, if a member of Congress from a minority community wants to get people outraged -- they are outraged -- get them voting, it seems to me this would be a weapon to do that with."

It won’t work.

He does know that he’s “whiter than a sheet” doesn’t he? Or does his Swaziland Peace Corps draft-dodging give him street cred amongst the brothers?

I agree - it won’t work.

Primarily because the dollar donations in Ferguson for the Officer’s family is extremely higher than the funds for the Brown family.

No, plus it will backfire because people are tired of race baiting.

I don't think so either but it is the only reason this case is getting all this media attention. The Dems are desperate to hold on to the Senate so they are grasping at straws.

But this straw might send a good cop to jail for a long, long time. Or worse.

Where’s the outrage for Miriam Carey? Does prissy Chrissy even know who she is?

Not really much difference except in degree from the Dems taking out ads threatening riots, looting, and killing if anyone votes against them. This sounds jolly to political wonks wearing ideological blinders but is a good way to get clobbered at the polls...at least.

The Brown supporters may not be willing to donate money, but they are evidently willing to torch the town over it.

But .. the people who torched and looted the town - DID NOT LIVE IN FERGUSON. Most of them lived out of state.

I believe the residents of Ferguson will do all they can (or all the dems will allow) to bring order to their town.

And .. I certainly hope the lawyers for the officer will DEMAND a change of venue .. or otherwise the officer may have a very bumpy ride.
