Nunn won't commit to voting for Harry Reid
The Hill ^ | August 22, 2014 | Cameron Joseph

Georgia Democrat Michelle Nunn won't commit to voting for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) if she wins her Senate race.

"I look forward to changing the composition in the leadership of the Senate. The way that we’re going to change Washington is to bring more people to recognize — to have the humility to recognize — that there are good ideas on both sides of the aisle," Nunn told reporters following a forum with her opponent, businessman David Perdue (R). "I will vote for the Democratic leader that I think best represents our capacity to get things done and move things forward," she continued.

Nunn has trailed Perdue in recent polls of the race, and the comments seem squarely aimed at putting distance between herself and national Democrats in red-leaning Georgia. Nunn has sought to paint herself as a centrist deal-maker unhappy with both parties, while Perdue has tried to tie her to Reid and President Obama throughout the campaign.

It also seems more a campaign ploy than anything else — no Democrat is expected to challenge Reid as party leader and, as Republicans point out, Reid has been highly complimentary of Nunn.

She says the right things but beyond that I know she’s a democrat and the last thing I expect any democrat to do is make it illegal for former congressmen to become lobbyists.

The fact that she is a democrat nullifies everything she says, or does. Like ISIS, democrats are bred and trained to party loyalty, no matter what. They see lies as merely a means to and end to placate the party.

Lies, and freebies, are the only eay they can get elected, as their policies are anti-American.

Nor will she commit to NOT voting for Harry Reid. Tells you all you need to know.

Harry Reid isn't even the problem. The national party is.

Don't take my word for it. Look it up. Prior to being elected as their U.S. Senate leader, Reid had one of the most moderate voting records of any Democrat in the senate. So did his predecessor Tom Daschle before he was elevated to a party leadership position. If Old Harry is replaced, expect their next party leader to follow the same mold.

Ultraleftism is the religious test for any high Democrat leadership position.

Blunt, but 100% correct. Please see my post #5.

You can say the same thing about the GOP-E.

Interesting perspective....thanks..

I assume your thesis then is that the Democrat party since 2000 has been moving fast and hard to the left..so the "leaders" have to follow the herd in order to stay in power.

That would seem to consign Dems to a near permanent minority status..given the conservative bent of the nation as a whole..

Obama said he wanted to "fundamentally transform America." He's working hard at it..but he may end up fundamentally transforming the Democrat party.

Bingo. The Dem party got overrun with the hard left long ago. I love to make this point to the Dems that I know that are, indeed, conservative democrats: It ain't your party anymore.

Logically, it would, but they keep moving the center further left.

Even five years ago, gay marriage was considered an extreme to leftward position with civil union or some legal equivalent the mainstream position even within the party. Now, if you don't buy the whole nasty package, your a right wing teabagger.

And too few of the Democrat rank and file even bat an eye because the enemedia herds them like sheep.

Oh puhleeze, what’s she gonna do, actually not vote for the guy if the Ds are in the majority (heaven forfend!)?

Who would believe this, who’s she gonna vote for, herself? Chucky Cheese Schumer?

We chide ourselves for voting/falling for RINOS, but we got nothing on any moderate dem who falls for this BS, from dames like this, or fellows like Joe Manchin.

A vote for a dem is a vote against the American taxpayer, now and forever.

Nunn never had a chance except in the minds of the AJC and a few other libtards around the country who don’t know GA politics. Now she’s on life support as expected.

I just pray Perdue who was not my first or second choice does not turn out to be another RINO. Time will tell.

Democrat members of Congress, especially junior ones, are not allowed to make decisions by themselves. They must and will follow party orders on all votes, period. If they do not, they are destroyed and they all understand this. They are allowed to lie to their constituents, to vote on meaningless resolutions to pander to the folks back home, and to vote against the party when their vote is not essential. But, they do not ever do these things by themselves.

Only the stupid people who vote for them fail to understand this. That’s why evaluating a Democrat candidate on the basis of their campaign promises or policy positions is ultimately a foolish exercise.
