The Bible condemns abortion with its admonitions against murder and encouragement to choose life and respect the life God created. But the wife of a prominent late-term abortion practitioner thinks the Bible justifies her husband’s profession.
After a hearing late last week which saw a local judge issue an order closing down his abortion clinic if it failed to meet state health and safety laws, Martin Haskell and his wife left the courtroom and were greeted by pro-life advocates.
Bryan Kemper of Stand True, Paula Westwood of Cincinnati Right to Life, and Mark Harington of Created Equal were present in the courtroom for the verdict while members of the groups protested outside.
After the decision, Ms. Haskell left the courtroom and Kemper and Harrington caught up with her for a conversation. After telling her to stop being involved with abortions and to turn to Jesus Christ, Haskell said, “No, it’s time for you to repent and turn to Jesus Christ.”
Bryan asked, “How is it OK to kill children?” Ms. Haskell responded and said, “Read the bible and you’ll see.”

OK, let’s hear how you twist the Word of God, you wacko broad.

Stalinists lie. ALWAYS
Maybe she was thinking of Moloch...
the inspired word of God describes the killing of the innocents and the subsequent flight into Egypt to save the life of the King of The Jews
“The devil can cite Scripture for his purpose.
An evil soul producing holy witness
Is like a villain with a smiling cheek,
A goodly apple rotten at the heart:
O, what a goodly outside falsehood hath!”
I’m pretty sure she’s referring to Proverbs 8:36.
I’m sure she’s referring to what Jesus said about children and mill stones.
And even the "safety laws" allow 50% of the patients who go in to come out dead.
“Read the Bible and you’ll see”
Sounds like the ruminations of a nutjob who hasn’t even opened a Bible. It’s just easier to make a general reference to it.
Don't see how that fits.
Nothing more vile than convincing someone to
“kill your baby so I feel better about killing mine”.
To people like this crazed wench, Kermit Gosnell would have Prophet status if he was doing what she infers is “God’s work.”
This is why there is simply no reasoning with liberals. They are to be mocked and detested, and their ideology crushed.
God was AGAINST Molech....
Pharaoh ordered the death of Hebrew children (”Feed them to the Nile”).
Moses was preserved.
Herod ordered the death of Hebrew children (”Kill all male children under 2YO”).
Christ was preserved (Ironically by going to Egypt!)
So, I guess “abortion”, in some form, is in the Bible but always in the revelation of EVIL and an attempt by man to defeat the plans of YHWH.
The Massacre of the Innocents was prophesied in Jeremiah 31:15; however, the Innocents were not massacred to save our Lord, they were massacred because Herod wanted to kill our Lord. The Holy Innocents have traditionally been seen as the first Christian martyrs; however, their martyrdom does not imply that God condoned it.
The Bible records a lot of things that were done that were wrong.
That doesn't condone or justify it or sin.
It's a record of actions that happened, not an endorsement of them.
I wouldn't expect her to because it's not in there.
When you get right down to it, the Old Testament is almost entirely the story of people DISOBEYING God and occasionally seeing that their sinfulness is wrong.
But oddly enough, there are FReepers who seem to believe there is.
It’s gotten to the point where nothing surprises me any more.
I just have to shake my head.
I have. Cover to cover. Probably multiple times. Don't see nothing like that.
If she said the part in the law books where the guys are fighting, hit the woman by accident and make her miscarry, and she’s trying to make that apply to what her husband does, that’s so stupid that I think you actually get to slap her for that, don’t you? At least, you should.
And if she’s trying to use Herod or child-sacrifice, it makes you wonder if she has to be reminded to breathe.
How damning to think she can twist God’s Word in this way, The bread on her table is bought with the blood of God’s babies.
Post 9 and post 10 look to me like they are making parallel points, in a similar writing style. If you “get” post 10, apply that reasoning to post 9, and it too should make sense.
Y’all correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems you’re both saying the passages you referred to are the relevant Bible passages on the subject of God’s position on abortion. There was a hint of sarcasm in your responses, but not of the sort which would merit a sarcasm tag (which might easily be misattributed to the Word of God).
I’m sure we are all in agreement that God does not condone abortion.
Let me guess. Suffer the children.
OBAMA is PUNISHMENT for the murder of multiplied millions of babies..
The damage of which has not even begun to be counted YET!...
Thats for a future court of law..
Your exegsis is highly flawed.
She had it confused with the Koran.
If there is a sin worse than killing babies, it just might be putting words in God’s mouth.
Yes, abortion is a herodian crime.
A little Concordance Check reveals that God spoke out not once, not twice, but something like 20 times in the OT specifically against the shedding of innocent blood. He says it’s an abomination. He detests it.
Look up the parts of the Bible that mention Moloch. A large brass statue and furnace with a bull’s head and a man’s body. In front of it was a pit of fire. Once the fire inside it had heated the statue to very hot, parents would offer their infant children to the priests of Moloch.
With the sound of drums and trumpets covering the screams of the children, the priest would then set the baby on the statue’s searing hot metal arms, where it would cook to death and eventually drop into the fire pit below. The ritual would be followed with an orgy.
The reason for this child sacrifice was that, unlike JHVH, the priests of Moloch promised instant gratification and prosperity without work.
The parallels with the abortion industry of today are surprising. Offering women license to “keep partying” and to shun the expense and hardship of raising children.
The ancient Hebrews could never rid themselves of the cult of Moloch, despite the strictest condemnations and threats. The promise of easy wealth was just too great.
I think she mistook Mao’s Little Red Book for the Bible.
Didache 2:12; "The second commandment of the teaching: You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not seduce boys. You shall not commit fornication. You shall not steal. You shall not practice magic. You shall not use potions. You shall not procure [an] abortion, nor destroy a newborn child"
Many protestant groups do not accept the Didache since it is not apostolic in origin, but it does demonstrate that the Catholic Church has been against abortion from the beginning.
First communications from God to Man is in Genesis 1:28 is to go forth and multiply. This the first order of business. The first issued order that has no caveats or attached stipulations. How would God want Man to behave in any way that would not move that forward?
Exodus 20:13 - Thou shalt not kill.
The interesting part of that is that she is admitting that abortion is “killing children” and she is trying to defend it.
“She never does get around to explaining where in the Bible she finds support for killing babies. “
In the Bible where they killed babies for Molech. Yes this happened. Yes it’s in the Bible. Yes she will never admit that is why she does it.
